anyone interested in swapping their 3:92’s for 3:21’s. Mine have about 600 miles on them. 3:92’s were not offered on the pentastar. 3:55’s were, but I couldn’t find one. Obviously, this would be a rear axle swap. Not pulling gears out. I’m in Georgia. Thanks!

If it's just the rear end, if I'm not mistaken, that's not all that expensive to just change gears.

Call Matt @ Moe's. He can give you the low down.

Start searching your local wrecking yards, quite often it's cheaper to buy a complete low milege diff from a wrecker then it is to swap gears. Then sell you're original diff to recoup some of your money. I bought both front and rear diffs with 18,000 miles on them, for my 4X4 for a lot less then it would of cost to just swap gears in the rear diff.

He doesn't mention the front end, and you can't be sure looking at the tiny pic of his truck..... I figured it was a rear end swap only.

Wild one said front & rear salvage differentials were less than rear gear change.....so that means if he is changing out rear only its going to be even less just buying the rear salvage.

To each their own. But if I had a 2 WD truck with just 600 miles on it, I'd just have someone swap gears for me. Yes, it would cost a little more, if you figure your time spent running down the salvaged part, was worth nothing. With a new rear end gear, the truck would also be a lot closer to original when it was time to sell it, which may or may not offset the savings from putting a salvage rear end in a new truck.

Like I said, to each their own. Some guys like running down salvage parts and wrenching. I'll just put in a little overtime at my job, and pay an expert to swap gears.

nice thread. I was just looking online to see if it was possible or if anyone had info on swapping gears. Just got a 2017 with a 3.21 rear ended but wanted to get the 3.92 rear ratio.

1More, I think you'll be really happy with your decision. You're going to extra happy with your truck soon.

Be sure and check back in and give your review, I'm interested in what you think.

Mr B, if you have a 2 WD, It's realitivly cheap. But if you have a 4 WD, you're in for a struggle.

My guess is......$1000. Money well spent. Still a bit of a shame tho. When I ordered my Wrangler, I got 3.73s (as opposed to 3.21s) for like $75 more.

1M, You're going to have something pretty cool, and unique. RCSB, Pentastar, with 3.92s. There can't be very many of those running around. I'd love to drive it.

I’m in the process of swapping my 3.21’s for 392s in my 2015 cc4x4 :-( May money! Gonna be 3k almost by the time I add LSD being that I have to swap the entire differential in the front end ... part is $1300 alone not including labor ... but it’s my forever truck... with my mods it should make it much more beastly than it already is ;-) looking forward to it.

RLJ10X, I have done whole axle swap on a jeep before. It wasn't too bad. It's just doing it myself. I have a friend who have a body shop. It's just timing and me being in the mood to do it.

Anyone know where I can guy the complete gear change?

RLJ10X I do have a rear wheel drive. Also would it make any difference in fuel consumption? mite be dumb question...

As far as a difference in fuel consumption, in my case, when I went from 3.55s to 4.10s, and this is just my opinion.... at 55 mph, no difference, at 60 mph, no difference, at 65 maybe a loss of 1/2-1 mpg. I never could get decent fuel economy above 65, even when the truck was bone stock.

I'm of the opinion that the thinner air in low humidity, higher than my 575' altitude, will yield better mpg than I get in hilly, humid southern Indiana.

Bottom line, I don't notice putting more money in the tank.

Just curious what the dealer charge was for the gear change and how that will affect your warranty as you have a 2018 like me. I only ask because I was thinking about 3.55's for the extra 2,000 lbs it would add for towing. I'm like everyone else, you included.... what we wanted in gears / trucks just wasn't to be found on a dealers lot at the time.

5E9506E5-65DA-412A-9F04-8E43C35B5254.jpeg Bitter sweet symphony- The dealership did install 4.10’s not 3.92 in my eight speed pentastar RC RWD for $450(parts and two days of lab). I must say that woke her up. She pulls like a bat out of hell. The first to second shift is almost instant feeling. It tachs the same rpm as my 2014 Hemi with 4.56 gears going 70 mph. I would say a hair under 2k rpms. I don’t know about gas mileage because the same dealership bought the truck back from me at an offer no person would refuse. So, I took my stash of cash and bought a 2019 Mustang GT with the ten speed. Apparently, the dealership wants to show buyers what the v6 can really do. They upgrade almost all their cars and trucks, but my little 6 was the first. Did clock a 0-60 in 5.5 seconds! Y’all behave and keep modifying your Rams. I’ll stick with 460hp until the blower arrives next Monday.

Damndest story I've heard for s while.....

If that truck really did a true 0-60 in 5.5, that's very impressive.

I will give you a little friendly advice reguarding the Mustang. Don't ever, and I mean NEVER turn off the Traction Control.

Am I missing something here. A gear swap shaved 2 seconds off a 0-60 time or other modifications as well?
