Has anyone used the geolander xa-at tires on there 1500? Probably will need tires next year and looking at these. The truck came with geolander g015 which are ok for off road want something a little better. I do not have to deal with snow. Thank you

What size are you looking at?

I haven't but I looked at a set of A/T's pretty serious for my H3 last year. Read a lot of user reviews and test reviews, etc. I really didn't read any negative reviews on them. It's a premium tire. They're pretty popular amongst hard-core overlanders ...who go on long trips to like S. America, Africa, etc, due to their toughness and reliability. In the end I went with a set of Hankook A/T's ...for no other reason than I'd never owned a set of Hankook's before ...and figured I should try a set so I can speak first-hand about them (so far so good). And our local dealer had a fall sale too. But I was this close on them and the Geolanders are probably a better tire. I think I went to Discount Tire and put my hands on a set too. As I recall they had rim-protecting beads and a tough and good-looking tread. I'm sure if you go that route, they'll treat you right.

I have a different model of all-season Yokohama's currently on my wife's Jeep GC Overland. More like an SUV-oriented street all-season. I honestly don't recall the model. They look like they'd be terrible in the snow, but they're not bad. The first set was on there forever. Smooth, lasted a long time. I liked them so much I bought another set when they wore out. Four years on now the 2nd set also runs out great and smooth as butter. I have no complaints whatsoever and I think I'm pretty saavy with tires. I also have a buddy who had a set he had good luck with (not A/T's though).

IMO you can't go wrong with any of the main Japanese tire brands (that I've used).

Interesting tid-bit that nobody cares about:

Yokohama is a very modern & clean city just S. of Toyko, where a lot of industry and car companies are HQ'd. Including the worlds largest Instant Ramen Noodle Museum.. haha. There, they pronounce it "Yoka Ha-MAAAH" (emphasis on the last part). Was there last summer...on route to China (hardly any direct flights from the U.S....due to Covid).

Im just going with stock size lt265-70-r17 e rated tires. Thanks for the information I appreciate it. I was going to go with the falken wildpeak until I ran across these online and I have also read the reviews and for the climate I am in and what I see of road the xa-at seem they will he a better fit than the wildpeak.

For off-roading, the rim-protecting bead is very nice. OMO, it gives the tire a more 'squared-shoulder' look, flatter bottom, and a bit of wider 'looking' stance tire. Plus keeps yer wheels from getting boogered up from trail rocks. Budget tires don't usually have that, tires that are more serious off-roading do. Skid steer tires have a real deep recessed bead so ya don't catch the rims or wedge sticks, etc between the rim and the bead (flat tire). It also helps provide a little extra surface area to keep the wheel from spinning on the tire if ya air down (assuming the rim sits tight inside the recessed bead) . The Geolanders I looked at had them....double-check your size tho. :waytogo:
