Getting a V10 2500 cheap

I'm getting a 1999 v10 2500 4x4 cheap. Runs good, a/c blows cold. Just wondering if there is anything that should be done motor/ trans wise when I get it. The oil was just changed, was going to do a full tune up, and breaks need replaced. Is going to be a work truck and towing a lot.

I have never had a v10 and don't know if there are any quarks with them. Any help would be great!!

Biggest problem is keeping gas in it. The V10s just love gulping down fuel. Besides that I haven't heard anything bad about the motor since they don't have the same problems as the other Magnum engines. If it's an auto, that will be your main problem. I'm not familiar with the 47RE, but I believe it has the same issues with the check valves, torque converter, and trans cooler the 46RE has. If it has a NV4500 then you're good to go Motor/Trans wise.

Where would I find the numbers for trany type....actually on it?

Is it an automatic or stick? The number of the tranny won't be on it.
My V-10 gets 11-13 mpg empty. about 9.5-10.5 towing. Mine is a 5 speed stick the NV4500. That is the only stick option in 99.

No. If its an automatic its a 47RE and if its a stick its a NV4500.
