The new Gladiator looks really good. The one they have is white, with the white hard top and fenders. Pretty sure it's a middle of the road trim level. 4 door, decent size back seat. It's long tho. 18 feet.

I have to hand it to them. They didn't mess around. No turbo 4 popper. No 3.21 rear end is available.

You'd get a 285 hp Pentastar with either the 6 speed manual, or the 8 speed automatic. Rear ends are either 3.73, or 4.10. Dana 44 are available. Good ol manual transfer case. 35s will fit, no lift or mods necessary.

I'll bet there's a waiting list for these things. We'll see how long they make these after the newness wears off. I like it a lot

3 of them on my local dealer lot.

Not sure about a waiting list since the same 3 have been there a few weeks.

The wrangler nuts will buy them, but as a pickup truck I'm not so sure.

I’ve had two of them, both Rubicons, drive past my house over the weekend. Pretty cool looking but don’t think I’ll be getting a midsize pickup anytime soon.

I gassed up next to a red one. It looks pretty cool. I asked the owner how he liked it, and he said he 'loved it'. I'd say that to about my brand new truck as well. It looked really good to me, and the only draw back is it doesn't come with a V8.

Just think about all the mods are available for the jeeps. Cant wait to see some fixed up ones.

No V8, but you can put a Super Charger on it if you need more.

I think I'd be real happy with 285 hp, the 8 speed, and 4.10s!

My Wrangler has pucks front and rear. 1.75" in front, and .75" in the rear. But I took off the 80 pound spare, and the 70 pound backseat. But if you look at them, mine parked in front of the Gladiator, they both look about the same height. Like I said, it is supposed to be able to put 35" tires on it, as is.

Saves a whopping $2K w/ a manual though, which is just cool its available on a pickup (provided its not a unicorn for the sake of advertising a low MSRP and you can even find them on lots).

We were just talking about this with a family member wanting to buy one. My opinion was that as long as the mission is to actually take them off road, but then for that I'd question how great an idea it is to take a long wheelbase vehicle on something that's too gnarly for a Ram to handle.

For on-road duty, styling aside, I'd argue that objectively the Ram is the better vehicle for the money in 4x2. Bigger interior and bed, more aerodynamic, quieter, better ride, better headlights, better handling, more available power, more towing, better seats, better infotainment, better available tailgate design. A Ram can get expensive quick with options, but that applies even more so to the Gladiator when I was building one last, as just putting a hard top with headliner on it (which otherwise the first rainstorm will amaze you how loud it is) sets you back almost $2K.

Then again, the Gladiator is a fresh concept, unique, and wants don't always have to be practical. I'd wait until the hype dies down before you can really get a great deal on one though like you can a lonestar, and then probably go with a basic 6-speed Sport to keep the price reasonable.

Our local Cadillac MI dealer had this Rubicon on the lot for about a week.

Sold it for MSRP, with no dealer add-on pad.

Played Follow-the-Leader with one recently. Pretty peppy in city driving. Couldn't get highway time in though. I like 'em.

Had the Gladiator been available last year when I bought my Ram.....I might've went that route. The towing capacity isnt all that far off from my 3.21 geared 1500. Not sure about payload though. Im only towing a small trailer and bike, and a car could tow that. I really like my Ram to be sure.....but it would've been a tough decision had I had the choice to make.

I like them, but I've also owned 4 Jeeps. I could easily use one in place of my Ram for work purposes, but dang that thing is long!

All correct. No comparison between the ride, but it's a jeep thing. As for getting a deal, by me 500.00 off the sticker is the going price for wanglers. Dealers have no issues moving them.

I like the idea of a truck convertible.

I think these will sell well for the first little while (two years). I then see Jeep guys turning their nose to it, and truck guys as well. Because it is not quite either.

It will become a niche vehicle. Tacoma's will continue to outsell all the other midsize trucks combined.

Yeah, I wish they would have made a 2-door shortbed version where the front of the bed opens up like the Avalanche, so you could say fold the seats forward or flat into the floor, and fit a motorcycle in the back still.

When is the diesel going to be available?

That’d be bad ass to have the EcoD in that gladiator. Wicked fun!!

I owned a Scrambler back in the 80's. I see this as having the same fate.
