Two questions for you,

Oh, I don't have a PW, just a '17 2500 CCLB 4X4 6.4 4.10s

What gears are you running?
What tire pressures Front/Rear?

Stock 4.10 gears. 35f 31r cold pressure. Would like to go lower in back but it triggers the tpms warning which irks me.

if you have an AEV snap you can program for 35psi and then you will not trigger the light until your psi hits 26psi. I have mine set at 45psi and they won't go off until 34psi.

I'm right there with you...the high numbers are the instant numbers you see and don't mean jack....ive seen 30... foot off gas tail wind...means nothing...lol
my numbers are actual mpg after driving several hundred miles and putting in X amount of gas and dividing the miles driven by gas put in the tank. 2EC96563-CEE3-4AB1-81A5-636BB77D674B_1_201_a.jpeg

Didn't realize the threshold was 26 at 35. Interesting, thanks. Need to play with it some more as the rear is still very firm at 32 psi. Inflation / load table for that tire / axle weight combo is under 25 psi.

Well Skeeter I was just trying to be polite, lol. I ain’t never bought a vehicle and considered or worried about gas mileage.

IMHO, if U get a Big jacked up truck, with lift, tires, and a Hemi, why do you care about MPG??? Even on my stock MY 19 Bighorn 1500, I find 13-18 town, 17-22 Highway if not towing. BUT then, I's an old BOIRD and I learned a long time ago, if U want MPG, buy a Prius and put a "RAM" logo on it, LOL.

But it is a HEMI, LOL...

ADDED: On my truk, manual says 87 Octane acceptable, recommended 89 Octane. Since I do not have a 6.4, not sure what in manual.

FUEL RECOMMENDATION 2019 PW MANUAL:

FUEL REQUIREMENTS
6.4L Engine
Do not use E-85 flex fuel or ethanol blends greater than 15%
in this engine.
This engines is designed to meet all emissions regulations
and provide satisfactory fuel economy and
performance when using high quality unleaded
gasoline having a posted octane number range of 87 to 89 as
specified by the (R+M)/2 method. The use of 89 octane
“Plus” gasoline is recommended for optimum performance
and fuel economy.
While operating on gasoline with an octane number of 87,
hearing a light knocking sound from the engine is not a cause
for concern. However, if the engine is heard making a heavy
knocking sound, see your dealer immediately. Use of gasoline
with an octane number lower than 87 can cause engine
failure and may void or not be covered by the New Vehicle
Limited Warranty.
Poor quality gasoline can cause problems such as hard
starting, stalling, and hesitations. If you experience these
symptoms, try another brand of gasoline before considering
service for the vehicle.

Out in rural locations there's little choice. It's better than the alternative of having no gasoline available at the pump. If you need to fill up the Power Wagon in Bridgeport, CA, then it's going to be at least $100 to do so.

Regular
$5.19
As of March 31, 2021

Midgrade
$5.29

Premium
$5.49

Diesel
$5.49

My nearest gas station is 2 miles north on the state highway. They sell 85 octane regular and diesel, only. Their price per gallon is up to $1.25 per gallon higher than in the city, but then it's available. The next gas on the highway is 40 miles to the south with some 2 miles of elevation gain and loss over a mountain summit. They sell 87 octane gasoline. I filled up my Power Wagon there and also keep a reserve in Jerry cans.

I'm on the East slope of Colorado and on my 4th Ram. I have tested every octane rating in my 5.7's and 6.4's and never saw any change in the mpg or power. This includes towing. I stick with the 85 as it does just fine at our elevation.

My local Kwik Trip has 88 octane gas for a few cents cheaper than 87 and a whole lot cheaper than 91.
I've been running it in my PW now and average 14mpgs.
(then I put 35" tires on and lost about 1mpg.)
Still that's the average for my weekly commute.
I live down in a valley and pulling myself up to the highway eats a bunch.
My highway mileage is actually a lot better than I'd hoped.

Iowa sells 88 E15. It burns hotter due to the higher ethanol and is highly corrosive. Not for small engines and older vehicles.

Stuuuuupid people. Corn belongs in jars, not mixed with gas.

Unfortunately, the pump (photo) in Iowa utilizes the same hose for the E-85 and E-15. Your going to get a high mixture of corn gas if E-85 was purchased previously and your just casually unknowingly buying a gallon of E-15 for your lawn mower.

Don't believe that "2001" and newer vehicles on the sticker. It's later years which were approved by the EPA.
