So dont ground the radiator but you can ground the TB? This seemed like a sure thing until that reply.

I've been running a grounded TB for several years, can't say as i've noticed really any differance ,but i also will say it doesn't hurt either. I found more by running grounds to several points on the truck to show more of a gain. There is an older thread over on the other ramforum pages about running more chassis and body grounds, some guys claimed a noticable milege increase,me i can't say as i noriced much in the way of a milege increase, but i did notice the heater and headlights do seem to work slightly better.FCA is a bit cheap on the wiring,as it's done to save weight and cut costs,so upping the body and chassis grounds is a worth while upgrade. There's a stud behind the battery on the fender that makes for a great ground junction point,if you run a #6 battery cable to it,then tie all your new grounds to the stud.

I too remember this idea years ago when i first got my 2011 1500. It was on quite a few forums. The idea was to just run a wire with a ring terminal on each end from one throttle body mounting bolt to the battery (or good chassis ground). Took about 20 minutes and can't say it made any difference. The reasoning behind it was the intake manifold is plastic so the throttle body was reliant on the ground coming through the connector. The added ground wire was supposed to make sure a good ground was present. I never tried to test whether throttle body housing or blade was even grounded (you could confirm that with a test light). So at the end of the day is this an improvement? Possibly. But certainly can't hurt.

Interesting thread. I just had my tb off this past weekend to get it cleaned up, that thing was filthy inside and I put 2 cans of brake clean through and scrubbed it with a toothbrush. Seeings how easy it is to take those tb bolts off I'm going to run a grounding strap to it and see what happens.

You running a catch can? May be less cleaning next time if you do.

Be sure and ground that catch can!
May have to start another thread. This here is for TB's and Radiators. So far it's 100 yes's to grounding TB's compared to 1 dont ground radiator. Dont go counting yes's my math may be off but im pretty confident on the 1 dont ground radiator. Somebody double check my work here.

So chassis grounding a steel bolt that clamps the aluminum TB housing into the composite intake flange is a mod.

Learn something new everyday!

No I don't but might have to look into getting one. Thanks for the heads up!

Easy install and absolutely works. I drain mine once a week. Good amount of oil each time.

Hi guys very interesting thread. My idle isn't very steady and hope the grounding will smoothed it.
But someone could do some pictures of his installation please because I don't know exactly what to do.
Thanks

Crimp an eyelet onto a chunk of 14G wire that's big enough to fit over the throttle body bolt, make the wire long enough to run over to the batteries negative post,or else crimp another eyelet on,and run the wire to the stud on the fender behind the battery. It's pretty simple if you look at it.

Why not just ground to the timing cover? Less wire to run & look cleaner

Here you go

I used 12ga wire and attached it to the fender bolt on passenger side.
Zip-tied it along the firewall and intake.
8mm bolt on the throttle body, 10mm on the fender ground.
I immediately noticed a smoother idle but nothing else. I'm happy.
