Yeah there’s definitely something wrong with the system because my 16yo truck is between 45-55*f from vents. Now there’s ANOTHER type of freon?

I don’t know if it is a different grade, type? I was just told its different with a whole new system design. I might have misunderstood also.

My 2009 Tahoe that I just traded in will blow ice cubes in 98 degree heat outside.

Just want to add the dealer has been great. They have verified my findings instead of trying to blow me off and is making every effort to make things right.

Just tell the dealer that quality control is important and they need to make sure it’s fixed before handing you the keys next time, there’s no excuse for that.

Personally, I would have made them write it as a new complaint, that way it’s strike 2 on the books.

Yes there is a new Freon, I think it's called 1234. I know it's expensive as **** and the local dealer is actually buying it from us. If memory serves me right their cost is like $400 for a 30 lb tank.

Update #3

It was low on Freon. Drivers side blows 49 and passenger blows 44 and with the seats no problem staying cool. Once the truck cools down the inside had best results with auto and recirculate.

Side note. Just drove 200 miles and this thing is a dream ride. Very very comfy. Also found a pretty cool dial by the instrument panel dim light switch. The switch turns on a interior accent light so you can see the cubbies and floorboard etc. not enough to distract but very neat indeed.

Haters can troll all they want but I love the new ram inside and out.

Refeigant don’t just get low. Only two possibilities. 1. They failed to properly charge the system or 2. There IS a leak. So if it goes low make sure they fix the leak!

I don't know if this is similiar but the other night I remote started my truck, got it, hit start....all good...but very humid that required defrost. Passenger side defrosted within minutes, driver side, never did. Checked sync, yup all good. Raised temp to 76. Left side blowing mild cool air, right side hot air. Took long ass time to get the left side defrosted. Could be a one time deal, we shall see

I test drove (2) Bighorns both with the moonroof, and neither one was impressive ac wise. Now one was black on black and the other was red with a black interior. Weather outside was right at 82 degrees. I’m hopeful that maybe it was just a fluke ?

Funny you mention this. When I was having problems with my AC we put another ram side by side and the other ram AC was not that cold either. I wonder if they are not properly charging the AC at the plant.

I will say this after they properly charged the AC it was pretty cold but after driving a few hindered miles it feels even colder.
If you have a digital it should be blowing low 50’s sitting still and 48ish driving. When i first picked it up it was blowing 68-70 drivers and 62ish passengers.

I’m sitting at the dealership and they just brought me a 2018 Limited from the back. I’m pushing the button to start it, and the ac is already feeling like the arctic. What am I missing hare lol.
