I do not know when and how it happened, but the passenger side of the front bumper air dam is hanging. .

It is split from the angle piece where the snap nut go to hold it in place. I used plastic ties and bore two holes to hold it in place. It is not too bad just not pretty.

Question: If I remove the black air dam will it cause further issues? Is the air dam necessary? Can I leave it off the truck? Will it affect any other working part underneath the motor.

Remember, I live in Belize, so getting part like this is a 45 to 60 day ordeal.

Removing it won’t hurt it one bit. It does nothing more than help with road debris and aerodynamics.

You can take it off. Some have done it, just to get more ground clearance up front. I trimmed the bottom portion of mine off (the flat downward piece) just for the sake of doing it. Made the front end look a little higher. It is mainly there for fuel mileage.

It is time to remove the air dam. It has been a pain keeping it in place. It is broken and I have tied it with plastic ties but at last it time to remove it. It seems easy to do but is it? Please let me know.

I got a 19, but do not know on removal, can't be that hard. But ne way, do not unplug the connection to the moving brackets, you may get a CEL if U do, if your Air Dam is moveable like mine is on the 19. If just a static piece, I would pull it and junk it. But IMHO only.

Mine moves up and down and connected into electronics, so may be different than yours.

You could always remove, order another piece and re-install when arrives. Just a choice on yer part. I sincerely doubt you are doing a lot of highway driving in tiny Belize.

It’s mostly cosmetic. Rip it off. Toss it in the trash.

(It does have a very MINOR effect on aerodynamics in the form of slight cooling-efficiency and wind-noise…. but you will not notice Any difference whatsoever and the thermostat will automatically regulate to keep the engine coolant at the correct temperature.)

Some earlier models, my 21 for example, came from factory with “air dam delete” on sticker and I believe an $80 deduction. Parts were apparently not available. I never even noticed till a couple years later! Seriously. I went to fit a light bar down there and realised there was nothing in the way!
