Did you have to buy new side rails? Everywhere i look for a new cover says I need to get the new Ram silver rails to be able to bolt new cover down

Well tried to buy these silver rails from Ram on line,just got email from them and they say the silver ones i ordered are wrong one and they suggest according to my Vin they say my truck needs the black ones. But all manufactures of tonneau covers say i need the silver. What can i do? I just want to replace this soft cover with a hard cover. Any help please?

Try your local dealer instead,tell them what you want and why you want it,and they should be able to get it.

Hi guys, I have a 2020 Limited and was looking to put a hard cover on but I have these corner braces at the front of the bed which makes it impossible to install any rails for the hard cover. Anyone run into this? Do I need these braces? Thanks

Are they the braces for the MFT? Look into Diamondback - it latches down using the braces.

Bak Flip is the brand I’ve used on my 2012 Ram 15– w/Rambox (5’7” bed) and also what I have on my 2024 Ram 2500 w/Rambox (6’4” bed”)

Excellent experience with both. I still have a new in the box for the 5.7 bed that I no longer need…. wish it’d fit my 6.4 bed…but no.

Do you have the Multi Function Tailgate? That is when they usually use corner braces. If so you need to use a cover made specifically for trucks with the MFT. We have some options, if you are interested send me a message.

So A couple of things,
1 I had a 22 1500 limited with Multi function tailgate (no rambox). Found a place in Fla that sells replacement brackets and gives you the instructions on mounting a BakFlip hard cover. They explained the corner brackets are neccesary to prevent bed flex when tailgate is open (split function, not flat) and you lean on it ( can cause the bedside to wrinkle).
2 so fast forward, I just bought a 26 tungsten 1500 with Rambox and Multi function tailgate. I have been told by several places I need to replace the rails in order to install a hard cover.
HMMM why would Ram make a specifically different set of rails for this configuration?
The "silver" rails offer little to no support for the bedside, the "black"rails are channels that reinforce the bedside. Preventing bedside "flex" or wrinkles.
This is the only conclusion I can come to, it just makes no sense otherwise. I think until someone offers an actual solution, it will be better to stick with the factory
tri fold soft cover 8(.

If anyone has any other suggestions I am definately all ears 8)
