I finally got around to putting my dashcam in and wanted to hardwire it to the overhead console. After popping the console off and seeing how f*cking short the wires were for all the connectors, and how difficult it was to even get my small hands in there to do anything, I realized the rearview would probably be easier to use. Putting the plugs back together with the short wires was no easy task, and of course one of the tabs that holds the rear slider switch broke, so I had to run a small screw into it to keep it in place.
If you are planning on hardwiring a cam or radar detector, doing so with the mirror is far easier! Unfortunately, I was so pissed off by that point I did not take any pics. 12v + is the red wire but I don't recall which was ground...not hard to figure out with a multi meter or test light though.
I am using the Thinkware F750 with rear view camera, and have had it in my previous truck for a couple of years and it still works great.
