Has anybody experienced this with their backup camera?

Check the plug on the bottom of the tailgate, also you may need to pull the tailgate access panel off and check the plug on the camera itself

Yeah, I just came across this video. It has done it once before last week, but fine since then… Looks like I am going to pick up some dialectic grease…

YUP, kinda like the old IBM Blue Screen of Death. Connections for sure as U probably are aware.

I had this issue on my 2013 and it was the connector crash68 mentioned. Pull it apart, I used a contact cleaning product (CRC QD Contact Cleaner), then dielectric grease to protect the contacts, and never had the issue again.

I've seen others (my neighbor) with the same issues but their source of the problem was the connector inside the tailgate at the camera. The locking retainer was broken causing the connector to have intermittent connections.

I have had both the Blue screen of death, and the distorted lines on the screen from the backup camera. It usually happens when the back of the truck is facing the sun, and it's hot out, 90` and above. My fix is to open the tailgate, and shut it, reasonably, hard. When I backup again the camera is working. Not certain what the total cause of this is - Is the heat causing the connections to expand and loosen? Is the camera getting too hot? Is the camera made in China, and is typical Chinses junk? Just don't know. But my fix works.

Oh, by the way, it happened early on, about a few months after I purchased my truck new, and I took it back to the dealer to be fixed, they said that they replaced the camera and wires, but I think they just opened the tailgate, and shut it.
