Has anyone swapped the halogen housing to projector housings at the dealership before? If so how much did it run you? My dad wants to swap his headlamps out for headlamps like mine and get the HID kit I have. Can anyone give him an idea on cost. I'm sure it's going to be a whole new wiring harness to get it done. 156826a293b21cca4c65798f9e80b578.jpg5bd208abba29918160b155dea1501464.jpg

He wants factory he's not into aftermarket for whatever reason

I asked the dealer at one point how much it would be and they told me they can't swap the trucks over. Unless my dealer was wrong his only choice would be an aftermarket wiring kit

You can do it with all factory parts. These are your headlights...68093220AD & 68093221AD. Then you need to replace the whole Quad headlight harness with this one...68209652AD. Plug and play, no sales code needed

Yea. Tell him they can do it. But the lights alone will be around $1,700. Then you gotta get the wiring harness. They're PROUD of those lights.

He's almost 60 haha. I couldn't even talk him into window tint because people would think he's a drug dealer haha

It's not plug and play. The DRLs (if equipped) won't work, the bi-halogen projector won't go into high beam mode, and, depending on year, you can get a bulb out warning unless you also add resistors.

Unless you have the capability to properly configure the BCM, I recommend just getting the RetroShop harness. You're still using the factory lights - it's just the wiring (which nobody sees).

Yeah I know all this already thanks though. I already know he'd need a new harness for the projectors themselves. And it's pretty much every year 09+ but for 15+ you need an extra set of resistors.

There's the relay harness for the HIDs and then there's the harness to convert from quad housings to projector housings. They're two separate things. It sounded like you were asking about what was needed to allow the projector housings (HIDs aside) to be installed.

The quote I posted said that you could replace the factory quad harness with one for a projector truck and everything would work with no sales codes. As the only person I know of who has actually done that, I wanted to clarify that the posted info was wrong. Bottom line - the dealer doesn't have the capability to use all factory wiring and convert a quad truck over to fully functioning projectors unless the projector lamp sales code(s) is available in DealerCONNECT.

No I've already did the HIDs in my projectors I know those components. I just was wondering how much it is to change the reflector housings to projector housings and the harness for the projector housings since there is no way that they're the same. As in taking his reflector housing and converting them to the halogen projector housings then after the fact installing the HID kit. 332822ba2ad738e14dd891fb2f6d975a.jpg

Without the BCM configuration you won't have full functionality. If you have DRLs, the truck will drive either the high or low beam bulb at reduced brightness like it does for the quads instead of driving the dedicated DRL circuit for the projector housing's LED array. Also, when you switch to high beams the dedicated high beam reflector will come on, but the shield on the projector won't drop because the secondary high beam driver isn't activated by the BCM. The lights will seem to work ok, especially if you're used to quads. But, they don't work like a truck that came from the factory with projectors.

Well I figured if he's going to have the dealership do it then they would update the BCM as well

Right. RetroShop sells a conversion harness to go from quad housings to projector housings which is what 99% of people who do the swap use. You can change out the whole front end harness using factory parts, but you run into the limitations I described in my previous post.
