Hate the non-parabolic tow mirror. Can I swap just the glass?

Hi folks! First post...

Just upgraded trucks from a 2001 to a 2013. The 2013 Ram 2500 has tow mirrors (flipped down) and I hate the non-parabolic glass on the right side. No matter how the main mirror and the small parabolic mirror are adjusted, there is a blind spot somewhere. I have tried dozens of configurations of the two mirrors. If adjusted for driving, I can't see to back up. If adjusted for backing, I have blind spots when driving and I'm scared to change lanes.

I don't see this complaint anywhere else, so almost feel like I'm doing something wrong, but it's just a damn mirror! How hard can adjusting a mirror be? I want to swap the main mirror with a parabolic so I can see more area. Has anyone done this? Suggestions?

And no, I'm not flipping them up for daily driving. The 2013 feels so much wider than the 2001, I already feel like I'm crossing the lines on both sides.

Cheers! :favorites13:

I have them on my rcsb and only adjusted them the day I bought it and never since then. I dont recall running into any problems like this but am interested to see if anyone else has.

I'm also having trouble getting used to the passenger mirror. I just had the tow mirrors installed on my 15 and thinking of taking them off. You're right, you can't see anything with how close up everything is in the mirror

I have a 15 with tow mirrors. Use the small mirror for blind spot and backing, use the big mirror for straight behind.

I'll take a picture of what I have set up later.

I find my 12's right tow mirror uncomfortable. In down - non tow position- I haven't tried up yet. By that I mean I always hesitate when using it. I hope I can adjust to it or I too will be looking for something else.

That, it took me almost a year and a half to figure out they're adjustable.

Just move them to where they work better and it's tons better IMHO.

Welcome to the forum. My wife was scared to drive our truck at first because of the mirrors but 4 months later and she don't even think about it anymore

I have the tow mirrors and I also took a while to get used to them. I finally got them adjusted in a way where I have almost no blind spot. I also don't like how big the mirrors are, I like to back into parking spots, and I always have to fold them in so people can get into and out of their car without running into my mirrors.

One thing I do like about them is I can see my back tires if I lean back a little. This helps with making sure I'm between the lines of a parking spot or close enough to a curb while parking.

I didn't anticipate the passenger glass being like that, I'm now in the market for the signal mirrors. I believe they come standard on Big Horns, they have the turn signal and and puddle lamp on the bottom. The ones off off express are the same size, just no bells and whistles. If someone has them for sale, or wanting to trade for tow mirrors please let me know.

I don't think the OP needs to hear about how everyone is eventually adjusting to the mirror. Sounds like he doesn't want to and just wants to swap it out. Seems reasonable. Pretty interested in that myself, but can't find any info on it either. Anyone know if Mopar offers a replacement?

I have the basic power mirrors with no little blind spot mirrors and they are HORRIBLE!!! Giant mirror with blind spots the size of mid size cars. This is one thing I really miss about my fords that I had.

Wish they made a replacement glass with the built in blind spot like ford. I'm in the same boat at you, don't like the stock ones because of the blind spot. But, now I have toe motors and they are funky as hell
