Im sure its on here somewhere but I can't find the answer I'm looking for...... Heres the deal, I've got an '06 3500 with that ugly ass Amber reflector at the bottom. I want to put in black housing replacements with out the reflector. I Don't want nothing fancy just want to black out the front end of the truck as much as I can. Anyway, All the headlights I've come across that don't have the reflector say that they won't fit. I've got a couple friends with '08's w/o the reflector and they look like they're the same size. What the difference between the two styles?? Different mounting, wiring, or are they slightly different size?? Before i go tearin **** apart to compare info on this would help, thanks!

You could crack them open and just paint the facia part (leave the reflectors chrome) including the reflector black.

There are lots of Youtube videos on modding headlights. It is also called retrofitting headlights.

If the wife will let you use her oven and you have both patience and a little skill, it is an easy job to do. Plus you get the satisfaction of having done it yourself.

Just saying

PS : If you are not comfortable doing it on your current headlights or need to take more time doing it carefully than you can have the truck without headlights, buy a used set off of ebay or craiglist and rune a few tests on them and if you like the results. Will still come in cheaper than the already built ones...

How funny... another member just posted these in the What did you do to your Gen 3 today thread :

Have a look at a job you can do yourself...
Yup, been following derekp since he started all his crazy mods. You are right though, I preferred my factory lights over the aftermarket because they are better quality. About a year after I pulled my lights apart and sprayed the bezel the outer clear started to fade and flake off. I though it was caused by being in the oven, but I have since seen quite a few 3rd Gen Rams with the same result.
