I've got a 2011 ram 1500 hemi. 5.7l. I love this truck. I currently switched jobs. And driving 100 miles a day. Averaging 16/17 mpg. It's got the Diablo trinity programmer. Magnaflow exhaust and k@not air filter. Was wondering if I put headers on if it would help the mpg? And if they do should they be long or shorts? And what's the average mpg gained?

It should help some but I wouldn't expect too much. I would go long tubes I would look into a custom tune also

what your going to spend vs what your going to gain MPG wise, its probably not worth it if thats your only reason for doing headers.

Thanks guys. Figured it probably wouldn't be worth it. But thought I'd get some input.

You may gain some fuel mileage. But any gains will be offset by the sound and power increase. That will bring out the inner child more often.

My City MPG dropped after headers and custom tune. But Highway is a bit better if I stay in my lane instead of racing Fords...lol...

Mine is worse all around. But my inner child likes to play all the time. And my truck is basically a weekend toy. So keeping track of mileage is useless for me. I'm lucky to get 11-12mpg in the city most of the time when I'm driving it. Although when I can manage to be an adult I get around 17-19 in the city.

You guys saying you lose mpg with headers? I would think it improves it.

They will improve the efficiency of the motor, but make your foot a bit heavier. So no gains will be made

I averaged around 17 mpg before LT's, now I average around 19 mpg. I drove the truck to Houston a few weeks back and at 75 mph I was getting 24 mpg. No idea if the road was slightly downhill or the wind was at my back or something but thats what it read.

That's about what I can manage if I drive like an adult. But I can hardly ever manage to do that.
