Recently I had a computer warning that my left front turn signal was out and the blinker sound inside was twice as fast. On the exterior the blink rate was fine and it took me a while to find but a couple LEDs were out but the rest were fine. I ran it in to the dealer...........the entire headlight has to be replaced at a cost of $880. Thanks, RAM! :flipthebird:

So wait the LED's for the blinkers in the stock headlights are throwing an error? You can find an oem replacement on ebay for probably $300 maybe even less. You can replace both with tyc lights for under $500

In my 2014 there are about 20 or so LEDs that make up the turn signal. I had 2 go out (which is odd since LEDs are supposed to last practically forever and my truck is only 3 years old with 51K miles). You can not replace the 2, you have to replace the entire headlight assembly.

It looks like you are talking about the projector headlights unfortunately that is true. you just can't replace the bulb and call it a day. Another option besides replacing the headlight is replacing the "led board" but that will still be expensive because you would have to bake open the headlight to replace the turn signal board.

Your best bet is to just buy a replacement headlight off of eBay you will find several listing in good conditions. If only one headlight is giving problems you don't need to replace both headlights.

did you have warranty, or are they saying that's a wear and tear item that's not covered

A perfect LED will last forever. In real life, due to mass production and cost considerations (and human error), they never will last forever. But should definitely last longer than 3 years.

Just like capacitors in many retail desktop computers. Should last forever... if they weren't mass produced with cost in mind. Many, many of them "swell" and bulge, eventually creating very weird computer issues after several years. Many are defective from the factory, but don't show it for many years past the warranty period.

I'm with the others. Purchase an OEM replacement from eBay or equivalent, and swap out just the side you need. Relatively easy to do, and way cheaper. I've pulled mine and reinstalled twice working with my HID kit.

LEDs will last a long time, its the controllers that usually fail lol, thats the part they leave out of the equation

U can't mix and match OEM and TYC aftermarket. The LEDs are different colors. Supposedly the OEM is more of a yellow and the TYC is a dark amber. But you can install switchbacks from retroshop in the OE and salvage the headlight but u gotta open it. Not so bad when you've already opened it for a retrofit.

LED stuff is nice and should last much longer than many replacement bulbs but it's luck of the draw with longevity. Just wait till the headlights and sport LED tail lights start going... we're going to be spending big bucks replacing them.

between TYC and OEM headlights there are two major differences, the first is like you said with the amber turn signals being different shades of amber and the OEM is decently brighter than the TYC ones, but also the projector is different as well, so you would have tow different beam patterns at night and two different cutoff styles when going down the road

minor differences are that there is no "ram" stamped into the lens of the headlight and no ram head on the projector shroud on the TYC light

isn't the projector actually a little better in the tyc? especially if you put HID's in it?

i think jeremy said it was a bit better, i know i like that it has a sharp cutoff on the TYC ones better than i like the OEM ones that has the blurry cutoff
