The absolute hardest part of a DIY is getting them apart. Once that hurdle is jumped the rest is just fun. Painting, adding halos, leds, projectors, accents and so on. You say your returning the tail lights because they are likely illegal, Ive got some bad news for you on the headlights if thats the reasoning.

Not even close it's easy. Pop it in the oven pry it apart. First time took me 10mins to get one apart.

That’s kind of my point, it’s all in the mentality that it’s hard. Once they are open which is patience over strength it’s a cake walk.

I got real dark tint on windows so no way I’m getting out without a ticket if they pull over for a 3rd brake light tint lol. Always thought as long as you HAVE it you can’t get in trouble because it’s not regulated like brake and head lights. Who knows anymore.

Only time the tint would be an issue is if you can not see it light up. Other than that, there is nothing in the NYS VTL that prohibits tinted tail lights or third brake light. It just has to work or be visible. edit: Just saw you were in VA....don't know about down there. Sorry.

Avoid tinting the front driver and passenger windows....from what I'm getting these days is that the courts no longer consider tint tickets "fix it" tickets anymore.

edit: VA laws I don't know....sorry.
