My HUD worked great the first 1700 miles now it's so dim I can hardly see it. I went in and moved the brightness level to 10 and nothing changed.

Is there anything else I might do ? maybe I changed another setting or something that effected it, I'm not good with tech stuff.

I don't have HUD but.... perhaps the brightness is controlled by the dimmer switch for the interior lights? Kind of like when you dim down, the brightness on the instrument cluster dims also.

Take off you polarized sunglasses? Other than that you might want to have it looked at since you're still under warranty.

i just encountered the same issue at exactly 4600km.

Was driving and noticed it was no longer up. Tried all sorts of ways to see if it would kick back on…brightness, adjustment. Nothing.

Pulled over and rebooted thr truck. Nothing.

Drove another 50km and noticed the HUD slowly start appearing but only part of it and then died again. So not a fuse issue or something like that.

Wasn’t wearing polarized glasses or something simple like that and the HUD is not controlled by in cab dim wheel. I tried it anyway and obviously…nadda.

So next course of action will be the dealer to diagnose and rectify.

I’ll post back in here when I find out what happened.

I had the same issue on the last Uconnect 5 update. The update completely erased all my HUD settings and I could not reconfigure the HUD display until I, as I discovered while playing around, switched the user profile to the second FOB and then back again. The HUD returned with my original configuration and brightness level. Weird, yeah, will this fix the issues you are experiencing, I hope so.

Thanks man. All the settings were the same. The only thing that happened was the HUD just stopped projecting.

Update: started up the truck today and HUD worked fine. Odd.

I do have my HUD on max brightness. I wear my non-LED screen Gatorz most of the time. Hence why.

But I’ve driven the truck for several hours at a time at max brightness with no issues in much hotter weather, so I don’t think it’s an over heating issue with a thermal cutoff of some sort.

Either way, gonna be asking the dealer Monday

Update: Dealer techs are attributing the issue to the hard wire double micro fuses I have installed in the interior fuse box. I piggy backed them to a 12v and acc power slot for thr valet parking mode. They disconnected them. I mean, i don’t understand canbus systems if that’s what they even use anymore to manage electronics, so it could be? Anyone else who has had their HUD fade away have any aftermarket connected to fuses for acc and 12v power ?
