Hi all, if anyone has a Helix Dsp, they are releasing the new director remote control in the next couple of weeks. I preordered one this afternoon from James at [email protected]. He has 25 on order and is awaiting delivery. I'll post pics when I receive it in the next couple of weeks. It'll provide a lot of control from the drivers seat as well as the ability to switch between custom tunes on the fly as well as sub controls. :roflsquared:

what do you think of the Helix DSP, vs. the MS-8 or Audison unit?

I have heard bad things about the PPI/Soundstream unit. I would expect that the Helix unit works pretty well.

The Helix DSP is a helluva unit...the Pro being even better. The MS8 & Audison are great too, but in different ways. The Helix shines due to it's very small increments of adjustments (and having a remote is a huge plus now)...it's a tweakers dream. It can be a wee bit intimidating at first for someone who has never tuned from a DSP.
The PPI/Soundstreams do a fine job at what they....just not on the same field as the Helix when it comes to the level of adjustments that can be made...but still a great option for someone who wants to dabble in digital sound processing

Did he tell you the price on it? I've got too many other expenses at the moment to really justify it. Assuming $200-$300 range. I'll see what everyone thinks of it before I make a move.

@seraphim... I had an ms-8 and now a helix... Helix!! Hands down and it's not even close. I went with ms-8 because I was intimidated by the whole tuning thing. It turned out to be much more effort than it's worth. I'd sell my wife before I got rid of my helix.

@BradKnob: thanks for the update. I work in professional audio and have, what we call in our company, 'golden ears'. I use my ears to tune world class sound systems, and DSP is the way to achieve it. (Granted, DSP can't really fix a system that is mechanically bankrupt, but it sure can cover a multitude of sins). DSP doesn't intimidate me, but an inefficient or cumbersome user interface will irritate me, since I work in the field. I will have to check out the Helix.

I will probably create a build thread soon.

Can't wait to hear of your results. I have been wanting to jump ship to a Pro for a while but was waiting for this to pull the trigger.

Brad the director is 299 from James he said it will retail for 399. It hard to justify but I wanted to complete the system as well as have some control without breaking out laptop. I post an update when she arrives. :naughty:

Damn... On the high end of what I figured. No lie, I prob would buy one of I didn't have so many other expenses at the moment. Mostly because I would just wanna build a cool spot to put it.

I got with James the other day about some Audiofrog gear Ima try out in the new ride. Just gotta sell off some of the old stuff first

Yeah he told me about them. Newer company similar to the hybrid story. Supposed to be really good stuff. I think I read about a cool build thread somebody did with them. Anyway if you think of a cool spot to mount in the ram let me know some ideas. I am thinking about somewhere in that big deep console because I have 8 speed and tons of room...just want to be nice and consealed but readily available while driving.:homoswitch:
