So after my Diff cover install I proceeded to do my sway Bar. In the past the quality of the paint on the Bar was reported to be not Good and most chose to repaint it, but obviously along the Line Hellwig decided to Improve on that. The Bar now comes with what appears to be a decent Paint Job, A generous amount of Silver Hammered coat finish. Sorry some of the CEll Phone Pics are a tadd blurry but OK!
The Instructions Useless, except for 2 Pictures that are useful and torque specs for the Bolts, thats about it.
Once I figured out the parts layout I mounted the sway on the Diff Housing and put enough torque to keep it from sliding out of position while I figured out the end links set-up.
The Brake Line required Modification slightly to avoid rubbing the Big Bushing Mounting Back brackets.
For the end link U-bolts on Drivers side I had to remove the tailpipe Hanger to get the U into position and then re-attached it after.
This is where the Instructions are out to lunch cause they say the U-Bolts go around the spare tire frame mount thats crosses the frame....Bulll. it is wider than the U-Bolt to start with....
Edit: Pass Side.
To get clearance of tailpipe to link assy on pass side I used my prybar to bend the Hanger slightly and the tailpipe all in keeping the End/Tip straight on exit.
applied light amount of assy lube to the bush ends and tightemed using 2 x Ratchet wrenches until the bushes (2 top/2 bottum per link each having a washer). The Bolts attaching the sway at the axle Housing where double checked for positioning and levelness then Torqued at 50 Ft Lbs.
Some More views:
With New Tires 35 x 12.5 x 17's on Stock Rims installed as well.
My 17" Chrome Trim Rings for these rims to match the Mopar Chrome Centers (Paid 90$ for 4 new Ones....Rattts) that I USED TO be able to USE with my LT285 Duratracs won't stay on the Rim's now, since the sidewall bulge more w/wider tire & the rim protector is too much for it coupled with the now 50 PSI Max vs the old 55 PSI.
So the Plan is to get me some 17x9 **** Cepek FC-2 Rims Black and Satin Clear and put those on the truck and keep the Rings and center Cap set-up for Back-up Rims for a 265-285 Set-up. Time to save up for the Rims and I will be installing 2 new Rancho shocks up front to complete the suspension mods/upgrades.
