Hi all, I am new to Ram 2500s, and I will be looking at a few used 2500s. I am specifically looking at a 2005 power wagon very soon. Do you have any tips for things to watch out for?

The truck has 176k miles. The motor was replaced with a refurb from Accurate Engines in MI in 2014 and now has 52k miles. The Transmission and transfer case was replaced last year. The frame looks good from the pictures. The body looks rust free except for the passenger front door which seems to have been backed into.

Thank you!

2005 was the first year and they didn’t hold back.
I owned #341 off the assembly line in 2005. I loved that truck, probably my favor, built like a brick. One tough truck. I beat the crap out of mine. I snapped both rear leaf springs and found out the Power Wagon is the only truck using that spring. Normally $500 a set, the Power Wagon $1500. 4:56 gears, I’m seriously considering change my current Power Wagon to 4:56. A lot of Power Wagon only parts. Exercise the lockers and sway bar.
Must mods: 35’s, locker and sway bar disconnect limiter bypass. If the Smartbar fails do the switch bypass.
I regretted selling it and still regret it. I still own a Power Wagon today albeit much newer.

Note: if your looking for a serious tow vehicle buy a diesel. If your looking to go everywhere buy a Power Wagon.
