Ordered a set of 4.10 gears from Moes and now the shop putting them in say they don't fit. Now I am stuck with shop bill to put 3.55 gears back and and set of gears that don't fit in my Ram. Has anybody else had issues with this swap. They are supposed to be the OEM Mopar set so should bolt in with no mods. Help.

Matt at moes should have known that..the carrier on 2011___2012. Needsto be modified before the gears will fit..its not cheap..but it can be done ...there are a ton of threads on another forum..when you get there go to drive train and search 2011 or 2012 gears.

The shop should not have any problems putting in OEM gears. Are you sure the shop knew what they were doing. Did you contact Moe's Performance yet?

That shop should have known or not toughed it. Even if the shop said those gears wont fit they should have either had an option to purchase gears through them or not tough your truck.

I thought only the fronts of 2012 had to have the carrier modified, is your truck 2wd?

I know the rear carrier has to be machined and the front housing has to be swapped. Per what I have read on the forums. Fastnugly is a forum member who has done this.
I thought the only options for 4x4 in 2012 were 3.55 and 3.92. which would be a direct swap. If yours is 4x2 the 4.10s should have fit in the rear.

False alarm. The shop figured out they made a mistake and used the shims in kit to make it work. Really like the results. Thanks for your replies.

Sounds like the shop didn't know how to shim a pinion, that's very scary. Hope they did a good install..

That is very very very scary to hear that the shop had to figure out how to shim. Hope it keeps working for you.

Did you even try to contact Matt at Moe's when the shop was giving you grief?
Everything I've heard on this forum is he is a stand-up guy and probably could have saved you a lot of TUMS until your guys found the shims IN THE BOX!

Make sure that shop warranty's their install if they had issues finding the shim. Did they go through a break in period with you also?

I agree i have had nothing but positive with Matt at Moes but when i called him, he was on vacation or out of town this week. I wont be using the same shop again but gears is the only thing i wont do myself so wont need a shop any more. I understand the break in. This is a very informative forum. Thanks for all the input
