So I have a 2016 Ram Rebel Red/black two tone (pic below is before I did the 5” carven black tips)
FBA09A91-8507-4C08-AB81-565C10CE7291.jpegA couple weeks ago I got a light out rear passenger message and the bottom couple rows on my OEM LED taillight are no longer working.
I’ve researched a lot the past few weeks (didn’t realize how limited selection is of your OEM is LED) and seem to be down to the following 2 offerings from Spyder:
Smoked:

Black:

Which does everyone think would look best?

With your two tone red/black imo the black ones would look the best with the red reflectors

I have the smoked top ones, to me they just look less busy and would look Stella on yours. You could do either one, but the smoked ones dont look that smoked as pic shows and that's for the better.
I got mine on amazon under a different name but they are made by spyder, it came with the box labeled.

Before you buy any of those, you might wanna look into what you would have to do to use them because from what I was told along time ago, those aftermarket LED tail lights are only designed to work with the trucks that originally only had the plain incandescent tail lights that basically if your truck came from the factory with the premium LED tail lights that only the factory LED lights will work. I may be wrong, but it’s certainly worth looking into before you buy them.

90% of the lights out there are that way. Which is issue with Morimoto XB tails. However in the description these specifically say for use only with OEM LED equipped trucks.
Most say work only without OEM LED or with OEM halogen trucks only.

Yep i have factory led and these work, have to use your factory harness on the lights, lil confusing but you will understand which plug goes where. I may have had a few to many at the time of install o_O

Well, that’s good. I don’t have a problem with my factory LEDs and if one quits working, I’ve got my lifetime warranty to replace it but then again depending on how much these lights cost, I may use my hundred dollar deductible to replace it with factory or I may try to find me some aftermarket LEDs that’ll work on my truck with this newfound information.

Im voting Black. The lighter tube would look good if you had chrome accents or a light secondary color in your theme.
I think the black would really pull your tailgate details together. Especially since you have black tips and emblems.
Good luck on your decision!

When I spoke to my dealership they said light burning out wasn’t covered on mylifetime warranty. They said if electrical issue wiped out the whole light then I would be covered. But just the bottom 3 and a half rows are out.

Did you not ask why that wouldn’t be covered? In all of my deepest thoughts, I don’t know why the dealership would tell you the whole damn light would have to quit working before they would replace it under warranty but then again, when this happened, were you still under your factory warranty or had your lifetime warranty already kicked in? Being that the only factory warranty that I have left on my truck is roughly just a little over two years left of my powertrain warranty but if I have one or more of the diodes in either one of my tail lights quits working, Mopar MVP that I paid nearly 4 grand for is going to be replacing the light because that’s what it’s for.

Based on feedback and pics from those here and at other sites (such as member Cableman here) I went with the smoked ones or “sinister black”.
So far so good. Just installed today. Look great and no light out messages.
