I put hours into detailing my truck, and my paint is in great condition. It looks just like it rolled off the showroom....except..... when the truck is under bright light, you can see the ugly paint swirls. I have tried Meguiars Swirl X, but it was a temporary fix. I need something that will permanently remove the thin layer of clearcoat where the swirls are. I know about the different DA buffers and what not but burning paint and cost of buffers makes me nervous. Does anyone know a permanent fix that I can do by hand? (I know, sounds crazy lol) I have heard Meguiars Ultimate Compound and Meguiars Scratch X will work, but will this just fill the scratches or remove them? Thanks.
I'll try to post pics soon

Adams Correcting and Finishing Polish with their Cyclo Machine.

Cyclo Machine Polishing Kit | Foam Pads| Auto Detailing Kits

Seems pricey, but you're paying for the machine which will last you YEARS AND YEARS and is Made in the USA AND has a lifetime warranty when bought from Adams.

Scratch X is nothing but a filler. You don't want to fill them, you want to remove them.

FIRST you need to know how to reduce the risk of causing them. 90% plus comes from your washing and drying process.

Check out these videos:
Instructional Detailing Videos

You will NOT be able to fix them by hand. If anyone tells you different, they don't know what they're talking about, or have all the time in the world and patience. You need a power tool!

My G8 is fully corrected! It's time consuming, but the outcome is UNBELIEVABLE! You'll think "it's as good as new" but in fact it's BETTER than new.

Also note: Not all microfiber is created equal. If it has a tag sewn on it, it DOESN'T belong on the paint. Also, Chinese MF is junk. I have yet to find any OTC MF that stands up to Adams MF. The difference is HUGE!

Let me know if you need any help.

Right now, Adams has a sale going on. I believe it's 10% off PLUS free shipping over 49 bucks.

They're also a forum supporter/vendor.

Seems like Adams is the only detailing company talked about on here.

There's tons of other companies out there making great products.

Adams helps support this forum hence you'll see it a lot.

It's also one of the easier ones to use for beginners and pro's alike. They've taken the guess work out of a lot of it. You use correcting polish to correct, and finishing polish to finish and you use the orange pad with the orange polish and the white pad with the white polish. It's also a hell of a good product with the best guarantee out there. IMO, their customer service is second to none.

Absolutely! I know there are and I've used it.

For a NooB looking to start up, it's hard to beat EASY TO USE. Also, as someone that doesn't have all the time in the world to mix and match stuff and hope it works, I find sticking to one or two vendors less painful and more pleasurable.

Absolutely, there are others out there. Just remember to compare apples to apples.

Really, any OTC stuff you buy is just OK, and not something that will yield you optimal results.

Stick to boutique products. You get what you pay for!

You cannot remove massive swirls by hand. Where are you located in Texas? Near Fort Worth? I can give a recommendation for Scotwax, he would remove all your swirls for a very reasonable cost. Just google him. if you are too far, just get some recommendations for local detailers and take it to them. Main thing is make sure they have insurance. I was a detailer, and even when i was on top of my game I still had mishaps from time to time. Removing swirls and achieving a mirror finish is an art, it is not advisable to learn swirl removal on your 30k dollar Ram. When there are mistakes, the cost to fix is way more then what it would have cost to pay a detailer.

WE have MANY people on the Adams forum that have never detailed or polished a car before that get amazing swirl free results. With todays tools, damage would have to come from someone dropping a tool on the paint.

Just make sure whomever you bring it to actually corrects the paint and doesn't just hammer it full of fillers. It'll look great inside and then you get it in the sun and HALO!

I was ready to buy a large quantity of product from Adams, but was hesitant on the pricing and felt I was doing myself an injustice by ONLY sticking to one brand for all my detailing products. Just for fun I decided to look elsewhere.
DetailedImage.com has a lot of good information on various products, and so does Autogeek.com
Long story short, I still haven't purchased anything from Adams. Their site is great and full of information though. I got all my goodies from DetailedImage, and they throw in some freebies too. Make sure you do your homework though, as my products aren't color-coded.
Did a full detail on the wife's Mazda3, and it looks incredible. Waiting for the time to do my truck. Got some nasty scratches/swirls I need to get out.

Didn't mean to rant or knock Adams, but I also wanted to share some info on some other sites out there.

Yep! Adams isn't the cheapest out there. If you're on a budget, there are cheaper alternatives, but keep in mind, they're usually cheaper for a reason.

A shiny one
Of course there are DOZENS of other companies out there, and many of them put out a very good product.

Of course we'd like you to allow us to earn your business, but shop around and see what you like.

We try to make the detailing process as simple and hassle free as possible. That's why we color-code most of our pads/products, we pour a LOT of time into our Instructional Videos, offer the industry's only 110% Money Back Guarantee, and do our best to offer the highest level of customer service in any industry, not just ours.

We also put the time and money into sponsoring this forum, so hopefully that holds a little weight with you guys as well.

 Well said! I've been using Adam's products for roughly 9+ years. Tried other products and will probably try more. However, there has never been any damage to my paint that I haven't been able to get out because of the many different products Adam's company sells. My last order with them, I was just going to buy some of their M/Fiber towels. Making a long story short, when I was done with my order it came to over $600+ dollars. Not so much due to their prices but due to their products. I can't go on their homepage and just order one thing.

I will not knock products from other detailing companies even though some of what I have tried from them was just a total waste of my money. With Adam's, I absolutely know what I am getting and know the results they produce.

Customer service is just a phone call away and their advice has never been wrong. Just my .02

A lot of products will correct the issue, but you will need some kind of machine. Clear coat is hard!

The reason scratchx was temporary- it has fillers in it. Those fillers help hide those swirls, but those fillers don't last long. Real correction is the onlynlong-term solution, followed by a quality sealant.
