Ok so i have a 04 1500 2wd stock with no lift or leveling kit. I have 305/50/20's on the truck now. I wanted bigger tires so i just bought a new wheel and tire package with 295/70/18's. Well i thought it wouldn't be that much of a difference but i was wrong....So now of course the wheels don't fit (i know i know). What would be the best way to go about lifting my truck? Should i just put a leveling kit or a full lift on it? And how much of a lift would i need to clear my new wheels? Yes i'm a female and have no idea what i'm doing now, so if someone could help me out please :)

First, what is the problem with the new wheels and tires? Is it that they rub when turning, hit the fender, rub over bumps, etc? I ask because I have 295/70/17 on my 2wd and I have no problems (on stock rims). With you having 18's that should make yours 1 inch bigger in diameter. Thinking about how my tires look on my truck with my 2.5" level kit, I would think that I would be able to put 18's on there with no issues. But, if your new rims have a different offset/backspacing and all, then that could cause other fitment issues that I wouldn't have run into.

The next question is...do you just want a lifted truck? If so, you have a good excuse to go ahead and do it if you have the money. ;) Plus, if you do a real suspension lift (or a body lift even) instead of the level, you want get the harsh ride over bumps that a level gives you.

They would rub when I turn. I was planning on getting a lift on it eventually. But some people have said "just get a leveling kit". So I'm really not sure the difference between any. And if I did get a 4" lift would that be big enough for the tires I bought. And do you suggest any certain type of lift kit??? Thanks

I'm going to assume that they rub the fenders when turning. Is it just a slight rub? If so just a level might work. If you don't like the stuffed look the 4" lift you asked about would work

That's what I was leaning towards also. Now would y'all recommend a suspension lift or a body lift??

Both. :)

In order of cost you would be looking at:
Leveling Kit < Body Lift < Suspension Lift

A leveling kit will raise the front end eliminating the "rake" of the truck but at the same time will make the ride harsher.

A body lift will lift the front and rear end, but you will still have the "rake". The ride should not be affected.

A suspension lift will usually raise the front and rear end and eliminate the rake. Suspension lifts usually level the front end by raising it 2 inches or so more than the lift in the back. And the ride shouldn't be affected as much as just leveling.

or you could just :superhack: where it rubs the fender. But if its just for looks a body lift would be the cheapest to get you enough clearance.

4" suspension lift and call it a day. It should look real nice afterwards.

Or do a 6" rough country.... cheaper than a 4" and can add to it to make the lift bigger....
