Thanks! I put a Hellcat oil pump on mine while I was doing the cam also. I don't think it will make a diff, but I like high volume oil systems.
Make the 20 minutes to watch these 2 video's,and you'll see why there's no real benefit to the high volume oil pumps.
The biggest mistake they made was dragging Hoover back out of retirement to redesign the oiling system for the 09 and later VVT engines.Anybody with an eye and a$$hole knows moving the cam farther away from the crank and sticking a big ole oil passage tunnel under the cam that blocks even more crank splash isn't the wisest move.
They could of left the cam where it was,and cast the blocks with the VVT oil passage above the cam,and had alot less cam/lifter issues.
Hoover knew right from the get go there'd be cam/lifter issues, and he spec'd the engines with a billet cam,but the bean counters over ruled him,and the engines get a softer cast core cam, that doesn't have enough surface hardening, on top of it being a lower quality cam core.
They screwed the consumer just to save a buck or 2 on each vehicle sold

I totally agree with you. He did it to get better valvetrain geometry. And a billet cam would have minimized that. I just like high volume pumps. And we all know the fact the factory is going to cut corners wherever they can right?

Yessir you are correct. MDS does not cause the failures....excessive idling is one of if not the major cause. Several ASE certified mechanics on YT talk about it. Don't know about MDS versus non other than on my own 2020. I selected the gears to skip MDS activation [thinking it was the cause of the cam and lifter failures] for the first 56k miles. Had a broken valve spring at 20k. Thought it was a fluke until the second one broke at 56k. Have touched the gear selector since then and am at 195k with no other issues. I decided to let the MDS do it's thing as it was designed after researching the low oil volume at idle problem. Some are solving that with the TRX oil pump.
do you even read what you spew? that using the gear limit buttons breaks valve springs? :roflsquared: thats rich!

for sure if youre there in 2nd gear letting it hammer away at the rev limiter like a vtech civic its not always going to end nicely. but this is not a bad programming this is simple operator error.

A tune with your idle set to 750 RPMs with the factory pump will do way more than a hellcat oil pump ever will without a tune.

I got 48 psi at idle with 5w30 Redline .

Running Redline 5-30 also. Idle set at 750 like you. Getting 48 to 50 at idle also. How long are you running your oil changes, mileage wise?
Even with Redline, don't stretch your oil changes out much past 5,000. I ran dual remote filters on my old 14,and with the stock pump it idled at 50/51 psi with the idle rpm set to 750,and at 1600 rpm was at 60/61 psi,at it's 6600 rpm shift point was at 75 psi.Even my bone stock 300 idles at 49 psi with the idle upped to 750 and cruises down the road at 58/59 psi, with it's stock 2.65 rear gears. Both are/were on 5W-30 Redline, with the car using 20-820 Royal Purple filters.

What engine brand did you wind up going with? May I ask the cost in CAD$ ? And what part of the country are you in? I'm looking into this myself since I have the tick and it seems to be in the engine as well, and twice verified it's not currently the exhaust manifold bolts that are the issue. So I'm going to have to consider some options in the near future. I'm in Western BC.
I am in Saskatchewan. My motor had a major rebuild, not a crate motor. Expensive. MMX cam. Lots of factory parts and some aftermarket, like the pistons, rings, and bearings.

I'm running a hellcat oil pump with my stock relief spring.

RedLine 5W-30 with about 1200 miles on it. At stock idle, I get 44 psi at about 210° oil temp.

I need to look into an unlocked pcm for my '15.

Well I can get the part number for you. I accidently deleted all my receipts on my laptop like a dumba***. As far as noise, they are almost, if not as, quiet as stock. They pumped up in a couple of minutes after initial startup.

I was in the auto parts business for 18 years. Six of that was in the performance industry, parts and sales. Comp always made good stuff. They apparently were getting lifters from some manufacturer and were starting to have problems with getting good lifters from anywhere.
They bought all the machinery they needed to start manufacturing lifters themselves. For quality control. They were not cheap, but less expensive than Johnson lifters, and I think the latest Mopar lifters also.

So since I used to sell their product, I took a leap of faith. There is a lot of crap about the lifters in the past on the web about the old lifters, but I am happy so far.

Last thing I will say is I believe people will buy some cheap crap on the internet, and wonder why they have problems. Then since they had a problem, now they have something to gripe about and cry on the same internet that they bought junk.

Summit part number was 856Y-16

How are those Comp 856Y-16 lifters holding up. Still running? How many miles?
