im putting the cam and lt headers in october so i want to start saving up for suspension/handling mods to help with that. should i go with the hellwig sway bar or caltracs first? is there anything else i can do? thanks guys

Sway bar for cornering
Caltracs for the straight line launch.

If you dont have much wheel hop then maybe the Swaybar first.
Caltracs if you have bad wheel hop but just adding drop shackles can help with that.
Neither really helps if you have bad wheel spin.

really need the flip kit for the caltracs but you can add the extra peice to the setup for $40 or so to work with the shackels.

I don't think you will but i can't say for sure for being 4x4. I run a Belltech Sway bar with Caltracs on a 4/6 drop with no issues but i am 2wd.

EDIT: I thought you were 4WD so scratch that first sentence

Shouldn't have any problems. I emailed both hellwig and caltrac asking if everything would work alright. 2wd or 4wd is irrelevant for the rear. I'm a 4x4.

This is what I'm running in the rear:

2" drop shackles
O/L removed
Nitro Drop 2 Shocks
Hellwig Sway Bar (just bought on DT need to install)

Then Caltracs when i get around to buying them.

nah i like where its at right now

Ok,
This might be an approach that would give you a lot of flexibility. Install a flip kit, which allows the standard Caltrac install. And then with custom shackles you could dial the rear to the exact level you want. It is a bit convoluted but might be considered a step forward if you are every considering a different stance. Or I think Caltracs has a kit for stock mounting for something like $40. Just thinking out loud.

I wouldn't bother with the hassles of a spring under and all this ******** for a truck that probably will not be modded too much. If spinning is a concern throw a 100lbs of weight against the tailgate. Running street oriented tires is not helping either.
