I was at the gas pump and didn't realize I hit E85 flex fuel, and I put 6 gallons in before I realized it, I have 5.7 2012 1500, once I realized it I switched to the right gas and continued filling it up, will 6 gallons of e85 mess up my fuel injectors/pumps/lines?! I'm super worried right now. Thanks for the help

Normal fuel you get at the station normally has a sign posted that says "may contain up to XX% Ethanol." So you have already been putting Ethanol into your system just not 85% worth, more like 10-15%.

Like the other guy said, I wouldn't worry to much about it. Really, you might have just put some injector cleaner into your system, so after you fill up again you might notice a smoother idle, but I wouldn't keep doing it in the future, it will alter your stoik (AFR) enough that might cause a leaner combustion, great for torque, but if not tuned correctly can cause detonation/ping issues with stock timing.

Overall, don't sweat it.

This is the first time I've ever done, it just wasn't paying attention, yeah I was gonna put Lucas fuel injector cleaner in next fill up, I already do that every so many fill ups

Then I would just look at it as 6 gallons of Lucas fuel injector cleaner was just added, lol.

You'll be alright.

Most gas has at least 10% Ethanol..

Even though the HEMI is not a flex fuel vehicle. A little bit is not going to hurt. Just expected to get crappy gas mileage with this tank.

Like someone else said, you just put fuel injector cleaner in your truck. The fuel lines and such will all be fine. I ran E85 in my 95 escort and 2011 fusion without issues. Loss in mileage and cold (10 degree) starting issues but no major issues.

it'll probably be fine but if you're really worried about it i don't think it's very hard to drain the tank. i'd run some injector cleaner through on your next tank tho

The fusion is a Flex-Fuel vehicle. FYI

Yeah I'll end up running injector cleaner through it, thanks for the input guys, and oh yeah I've got ****** gas mileage this tank for sure, I usually get 19-21(depending on how my right feels and if I wanna hear those straight pipes scream)

You don't need to run fuel injector cleaner... The Ethanol is a natural cleaner, that is why engines running E85 never have any carbon buildup.

Exactly. I thought I read you have to worry about the ethanol breaking down the fuel lines, etc.

It requires 30% more fuel with straight E85 in order to create the same AFR values as Unleaded gasoline. I ran it all the time in my previous sports car to obtain higher octane values... but it def has to be tuned in to avoid lean conditions and sporadic STFT's/LTFT's values. I would just avoid full throttle situations until you refill again.

Pure ethanol won't break down fuel lines. The alcohol attacks the O-rings in the fuel system that provide seals. Flex fuel vehicles run different ones to prevent the breakdown of the O rings... And most newer vehicles have them too since there is a small % of Ethanol in almost all pump gas fuel.

You will be just fine calculate it out 6 gallons of E85 into either 26 or 32 gallon tank. You could calculate roughly what ratio you ran through by my calculations in 26 gal tank you are running E27 and with 32 gal tank you were running around E24. You can of course run premium non oxygenated to help get it back down if you burn up some of what it in there and the fill up again.

Well I made sure to use all the gas that could of been the e85 and put fuel injector cleaner in it and filled her up, so here's to hoping nothing will happen!
