So Ive searched around and haven't been able come up with definitive answer so Im here to pick your brains.

Lets say some one has an off road Hemi 6.4 and the EGR cooler becomes a problem and removal or delete seems like a better option. I haven't seen much discussion in this area. I would like to talk about the possibility of said delete and what could be expected. Obviously coolant lines would have to be pluged and intake/exhaust manifolds would need plates. But what about the ecm and possiblity of it throwing codes. Has anyone ever done a full eger cooler delete on these engines?

I don't believe I've ever heard of an egr cooler on gas motors. The more you know I guess

The truck 6.4's use the egr to bring combustion temps down when the engine is under a high load, like pulling a decent grade with the truck towing 8000+ lbs. Keeps the piston tops and the top ring happier ;)
You'd want to hook up with a good tuner and invest in a good A/Fr guage if you delete it

Wait, the 6.4 Hemi doesn't have VVT? I thought since VVT was added they can get EGR with that...

So just out of curiosity I unplugged the EGR valve. Engine ran fine but ecm did like, go figure.

The factory does run them a bit rich, but by deleting the egr,the engine will run leaner,so keep a real close eye on your spark plugs,as they're your best indicator if it's running to lean.Wouldn't hurt to invest in a good A/Fr gauge so you can keep an eye on how lean it is running.By pumping exhaust gas back into the cylinders, the engine and computor thinks it's running richer ,but there is some leaway with the factories fuel calibrations,so you might get away with-out it taking out a top ring land

Dealer will have a block off plate for the egr port on the manifold,it's used on the 6.4 Jeeps as they use the same intake manifold as the HD truck 6.4's use,but with-out egr

By chance would you know what size bolts I need for the block off plate?? I bought the mopar block off, and "ass-umed" it came with the bolts.
