so, my truck has been having terrible hesitation when i take off from a stop.
i just cleaned the TB in aug/sep of 2011. when i cleaned it it was not dirty but figured it couldnt hurt. also when cruising on the highway, if i go to pass someone, or punch the throttle, it will not downshift 90% of the time. i have my bully dog set to regular performance. all of the shift points are stock, and i have the same symptoms if the bully dog is set completely to stock tune. the performance tune with 93 octane, the symptoms are still there but less noticible.

any suggestions?

tomorrow im going to check the tranny fluid and inspect the TB.

have not tried injector cleaner. (will get some tomorrow) and ill pick up a new fuel filter as well.

truck shifts good with normal driving, just doesnt down shift to pass. and when i take off from a stop sign or stop light (which are few and far between around here) its like 1-2 second delay between me stepping on the gas to actual acceleration...

Ok I know this is old thread, but still having the issue.

New plugs, injectors are clean, TB is clean, 89 octane fuel only. Trans fluid is at proper level and looks and smells delicious. Tried with no tune and with bully dog 89 tune. Same symptom either way. No kick down passing gear at wot. Shudder and hesitation at wot from stop or slow speeds. If I go half throttle it seems to run fine, but anywhere past half throttle I get the hesitation and shudder.

No codes or cel

Any other ideas?

I bet money it's some simple sensor. Try replacing the TPS and EGR and the Coolant temperature sensor. Usually when we see these types of problems, it turns out to be the simplest thing. It's a 2006, so chances are your near 80-100k miles, and replacing some or all of those sensors will probably help the truck, even if it doesn't fix the problem. All are $15-35 dollar parts, so they wont break the bank.

Also do a check on your wiring harness for any frayed wires. I would get hesitation and shuddering under load going 40-55 and passenger side coil misfire codes. Turned out to be several frayed wires that got chewed by a pack rat. Fixed them up and good to go.

Awesome advice! Didn't even think of tps. I'll start with that and go from there. This weekend I'll go over the wiring really well too.

And ya, just rolled over to 80k.

Thanks everyone!! I will keep you updated

Alright. Tps is integrated into throttle body. Not replaceable. (5.7L)

Here is what I did. Took the "regular" tune from the bully dog off and returned to stock. Added a CAI w/ k&n filter.

Running stock tune the hesitation from stop is noticeably smaller. Accelerating on the highway is much much better. Actually brought a smile to my face!!

So I took a 6 mile trip up the interstate and back. Re- tuned with the bully dog regular tune. (89 octane)
And took the same trip up the hwy and back. The bogginess returned and I was very disappointed.

So as of now I'm back on the stock tune. Next tank of fuel will be 91 octane and I'll try the 91 performance tune. And see how that goes.

I've had this bully dog for almost a year now running the 89 tune for most of that time.

So confused!!!!
