Decided to upgrade my headlights and fogs with a solution from retroshop.us. Read a lot of good reviews about Jeremy and his work.
I purchased the housings premade with his kit in them fogs and quad lights.
This should have just been completely plug and play...
Quad lamps installed no problem - 1 ballast each side, 1 ground per ballast, relay on drivers side, 12v from battery to relay.
Same idea for the fogs right? Nope. With the truck OFF, fogs are ON. I have everything hooked up exactly the same as the quad headlights. The fogs remain on whether the fog switch is on off etc - even with the truck completely off, light switch in the OFF position. The fogs are ON. It's like its hard wired to the battery... Ok so here's the troubleshooting, unplugged the OEM Truck source from the HID fog relay ... plugged my stock fogs back in ... they are OFF... plugged back into the relay....HID fogs are ON... curious... Grabbed my multi meter - I have 11.6V @ the plug with the truck OFF.... I turn the fogs on now.... now i have 12.2V @ the plug and the other side which I plugged my stock fog back in is now lit... I turn off the fogs again - stock light goes out - still have 11.6V @ the plug.
Can anyone tell me what I'm missing here? Why are these HIDs staying on but my stock fogs go out when they are switched to go off.
I know this has to be something simple stupid, but It's driving me nuts and I need to cool off. Hope someone has some input.
TLDR: Stock lights switch on and off - HIDs stay on no matter what
Can anyone confirm or deny the constant voltage on the fogs? Please if you can - go to your truck turn fogs on - then turn them off and check voltage at the plug.
