Not sure where to post this. I slid on some snow and ice the other day. Threw the left front wheel out of alignment. Shop got it aligned, but the traction control and cruise control don’t work. Truck is throwing a hard code for the clock spring. WHY???

Not heard of a clock spring in the suspension. But sounds like the wheel speed sensor ring or the sensor itself.
@JB1 might know.

I was thinking that too. Wouldn’t that throw a separate code? Right now it says out of range for the clock spring.

I'm not familiar with the "clock spring" term.

Drive it straight over 9mph. 5-6 times.

Dont ask how I know but the light will go away after driving for a few. Mine did.. took me half a day and I drive for a living so 40-60 miles.

The truck use the steering angle along with yaw rate, speed, etc. to determine how to apply the the vehicle stability control. It probably has to be within a percentage of what the power steering unit feedsback also.

Yes, the steering angle sensor was thought to be bad, but physically tested good. Not sure what knocked the clock spring out of wack. They did try to reset the system and it still showed a value out of range. Thankfully, nothing got bent. Just rash on the rim with no leaks or bends.

The alignment shop should have recalibrated the steering angle with a scanner. The steering wheel is now off center and the yaw sensor and it are no longer calibrated. The toe may have been improperly set.

They called me as soon as the alignment was done. The scanner could not reset the steering angle. Everything works again. $800 later.
