Hey guys,

Pretty sure I will be looking into getting a new Ram before the end of the year. My wife and I are relocated to Michigan in June from Massachusetts and I am taking some time now to do some research. I was wondering if anyone on here knows of any good high volume dealers in/around/near Michigan (anyone from the area?). Or any good dealers in the area that you can recommend. Been reading a lot on this forum lately and have seen some great posts related to purchasing. Dennis Dillon seems like a great dealer, but doesn't look like the best option for me being almost 2,000 miles from Michigan. I'd be willing to drive as much as 900-1000 for a great deal, but 2,000 is just way to much. As far as the truck, I'm not sure if I'd be going with a 1500 or 2500 (6.4) yet, but most likely would like a Laramie trim in either. I know manufacturer rebates are hard to come by on 2500's, so that's one + on the 1500 side. But the capability of the 2500 is very attractive, as I would most likely be keeping this truck for a good number of years. I have owned mostly GM vehicles my whole life, Chevy/Buick/Cadillac. Currently daily drive an '08 5.3 Tahoe I bought coming off a lease. Have never been disappointed with any of my GM vehicles, my Tahoe has been bulletproof. Was considering a Silverado, but these new Rams are just too nice! I'm not too worried about MPGs coming out of the Tahoe which has been averaging 14 lately. Have a friend who is a Mopar guy. He has a '14 Laramie 1500. What a nice truck!! I looked at Silverado's in March and was overall more impressed with my friend's Ram. I believe Chrysler really hit the nail on the head with these new trucks. I only wish the 1500 had a little better
payload/towing.

Any info/advice/chit chat would be much appreciated.

I'm in Mi. But I can't help you get a deal I've never got one. But my best deal & experience was over the phone purchase of my Jeep. From K&M Dodge by Grand Rapids Mi.
Where are you locating too?

Payload really sucks on the 1500 in larmie trim your looking at as low as 900-1300 depending on limited air ride ect the towing capacity is very attractive with the 5.7 and 3.92 gears with it being rated at just over 10k. Personally of fuel economy doesn't worry you and you have potential use for it just go for the 2500 6.4l with the 4.10 axle you won't be sorry!

We will be relocating to Ann Arbor. Thanks for the dealer, I'll check them out when the time comes.

To tell you the truth I am leaning more towards the 2500. Would def go with the 4.10 gears. I have no use for a Cummins right now so the 6.4 would be the way to go for me. I would most likely be using the truck for some light plowing (driveways) and moderate towing. Have yet to test drive or even sit in a 2500 yet though. I looked at the Silverado 2500. Seems like you can get a lot more for your money with the Ram 2500.

To justify buying a truck from Dennis Dillion .. do the math on the "Traveling cost" for u to drive the truck home and see if it still saves you money to go get the truck. I think it will. Also.. you get 2k miles to break your truck In and you do it the way you want. But best of luck I hope you find something, just keep searching dealers.

When I purchased my 2014 there were incentives to be had from Ram that counted towards the purchase. I think you may see more incentives for the 1500 as you stated.

Good luck with your decision.

Check Dennis Dillion in southern Idaho or Dave Smith in northern Idaho. Dave Smith is the highest volume Ram/Chrysler/Dodge dealer in the nation in tiny little Kellogg, ID.

Thanks guys for the information and dealer suggestions. I'm thinking of waiting until the end of summer/early fall when dealers are trying to make way for the '16's. Anyone heard what month Ram is planning on starting production of the '16 models?

A dealer is never too far away if the price is right. Just picked mine up from Dennis Dillon. I thought I was crazy for going that far but there was an older couple next to me sighting paperwork who just night a 2500 CTD Limited in Red/Tan two tone. They were driving it back to Virginia. I'm fact Virginia was the last state DD hadn't sold to until yesterday. I'll tally ,y cost to travel to get my truck and post it if you like later tonight on your thread.

The dealer I bought from is above the bridge about 8 hours from Ann Arbor and they were as reasonably close to Dennis Dillon as can be without the drive it was less than $800 More on my particular truck. If you want to know the salesman and dealer please PM me. A trip up north from a2 could be a nice weekend for you
