I like to use my horn. I ride my horn. If your driving too slow, I'll ride dat horn for minutes at a time. If you're in the fast lane, and not going as fast as I want you to go, guess what? I'm gona ride dat horn. sit at a green light, I'm gona ride dat horn. Even if you are NOT in my lane. If I just plan don't like the way you drive, I'll ride dat horn.

So, basically I use my horn.

In my other cars / trucks, I can hold the horn for greater then 5 min and no problem.

In my 2011 HD, the horn will stop after less then 3min, and not work for a few min. The steering button is fine, and the horns are fine. I have Air horns too, that are wired into the factory horn. And when the horn stops, so does the air horns. So the power to horn is getting killed.

I'm beginning to think its a safety feature Dodge installed to prevent the horns from running longer then ~180 seconds.

Has anyone noticed the horn stops after ~180 seconds of continuous use?

I get about a minute of horn use before it puts me on time out.

Are you serious??? You ride the horn for over 3 minutes at a time?? Got to tell you, if you were such an ass anywhere near me I'd drag you out of your truck and beat the holy **** out of you and then claim temporary insanity when the police came.

I really hope you are just trying to get a rise out of the members here because if not, you are a true waste of life. :yourself:

The relay is overheating. Put in a bigger relay and it shouldn't be a problem. The air horns draw more current and will trip the temperature safety of the relay.

Side note: You do any of that to me and we're going to have a serious problem. I will drive slower and/or sit longer just to **** you off. And I dare you to get out to chat especially if my 2 daughters are with me, I speak in 45ACP to ass hats. Would it kill you to get your life together and leave maybe 3 minutes earlier so you wouldn't have to be in such a reckless hurry risking innocent lives? If you're doing it for the sake of being a **** someone will retaliate and it will not be good. Courtesy goes a long ways towards longevity.......

Yeah similar thing happened to me. If you look under your truck you should see a metal cable/plastic tube running from front to back. If you just cut that, it should solve the problem.

I sincerely hope this is a clever attempt at trolling.... (which I think it is, but you never can be sure of the intelligence of people on the internet). Plus I'll never trust anyone who repeatedly types "dat" in a post....

Sounds like the OP has some serious anger management issues. I've never used my horn more than a few seconds.

I wonder how he reacts when somebody decides to express their anger using something other than their steering wheel noise button.

I think you were right--it is a safety feature that Ram put into the trucks. It keeps you safe from someone pulling you out of your truck and kicking your ass. Sometimes "Big Brother" has to protect you from your stupid self!!!!!

Here I thought I had horn issues because I couldn't do a series of rapid "friendly" beeps (think shave and a haircut...).

I actually did this once at a drive thru. The lady cut in front of the line of cars. After she gave me the bird, everything she opened her trap to order, I would honk. They couldn't hear her. I did this for a few minutes then my horn stopped working. I had my fun. She saved no time, and the girls at McDonald's got quite the laugh out of it too!
