Is anyone able to confirm that AlfaOBD can disable the "Unintended Idle Alert" on a 2022 Classic Warlock? The three honks when getting out and leaving the vehicle running with fob in your pocket is absolutely obnoxious to me. I have thought about going so far as to remove the horn circuit's fuse as some search results suggest, but I really don't want to disable my horn.

I've owned the AlfaOBD app for a very long time, used it for my 2007 and 2012 to modify little annoyances and it has worked perfectly. Now I'll have to buy and install the SGW bypass due to being a 2018+. Before doing that, I thought I'd see if anyone can confirm AlfaOBD will be able to solve my greatest gripe with my new (to me) 22 Ram Classic?

They have given us a key that essentially encourages us to leave it in our pocket, not in the ignition switch. a) Leave the fob in the truck; why do that when it's in my pocket? b) Place the fob on the roof above the door or place the fob against the B pillar; again it's in my pocket. c) Leave the spare fob in the truck; I'd like my truck to remain in my driveway and not be sent to another continent on a container ship. d) Just gently close the door without letting it latch closed; it's pouring rain out or we're in the middle of a blizzard and I'm trying to clean snow from the roof etc, just no.

The only solution I want is turning it off. I'll only consider lesser alternatives if turning it off isn't a possibility.

Mercy buckets,

I might be mistaken, but I believe that disabling the unintended idle solution is for the 2023 truck. IIRC, the only solution for 2022 is to hold the FOB against the back passenger window while closing the driver's door.

I will hunt around when I have time, but a quick look at AlfaOBD supports this belief.
In AlfaOBD, I can locate 'Cust.Set.Menu 3-Unintended Idle Alert' only for 2023 truck.

Fudging sugar....

Of course I end up with a model year with quirks like this again. Couldn't disable my 07 keyfob honks, or seat belt warning chimes due to some option it came with. That was the whole reason I bought AlfaOBD back then.

Alright, time to get out the wire cutters....

Check this less destructive solution.

Each year, FCA adds more nannies and reduces our ability to solve them.
AlfaOBD now has a solution for the 3-chirp honk for '23+, but then in '25, FCA launched Atlantis High electrical architecture.

I'm not holding my breath for an AlfaOBD update to combat that insanity.

If my '21 Warlock were to be undriveable, I would shop for a pre-enjoyed '20-'21 with some consideration to expanding those years by 1 year in each direction, but only if necessary.

Well I wasn't actually going to cut wires. I'd pull the fuse or unplug the OE horn and then maybe browse the Hornblaster's website. LOL (kidding, though sometimes I think I'd like to have one for 401 travel.)

Yah I've seen this guy's video a few times. As I said, and as commenters have said on that video they give us a fob designed to leave in our pocket but then we have to take it out of our pocket just to get out in those cases without alerting everyone in the area we're exiting the vehicle. And yah sure, there are people who say 'aww snowflake can't take the fob out of their pocket', whatever. It's just extra needless steps to not be annoyed. It's embarrasing when it sounds off in public and annoying when at home. I suppose we'll all be forced to have things like eTorque soon and there'll be no idling anyway.

Once upon a time, I was exploring different options to isolate the horn from stupid notifications. I decided to wait until my warranty expired to avoid the potential grief. That's January 2027, for my truck.

I had found a Y-harness on Amazon with the correct connectors for the horn.
I was exploring the idea of using one side of the Y for the OE horn feed and including an isolation switch, and the other side hard-wired to either the OE horn contacts on the steering wheel or via a relay.

I eventually found another easier workaround.

The horn fuse is a yellow 20A, F42.

I decided against disabling the OE horn button without always having a backup.
I couldn't imagine being on the 401 for more than 15 seconds without a horn.

Unless the eco-crazies manage to pass laws against driving old beaters, I will never own any e-Junk or a vehicle with the start/stop stupidity.

Yes I was just going to pull the fuse, and explore a way to bypass the computer control of the horn. Hopefully without too much if any drastic alternations of the factory harnesses. I don't like to damage OE parts that can't be easily changed later. One option is completely abandon the horn circuit and run a wire/fuse/relay to a new horn mounted behind the grille, with a button in the cab, like on the accessory button area below the stereo. Not an emergency, waiting for nicer days.

Regards,
