Is there anyplace to access the horn wire under the hood? I don't want to have to take the tire and inner fender off if i don't have to. What a stupid place for a horn.

That's where the horns are now??

SO glad I have a 2010, they're just hanging under the hood latch. Replaced them with PIAA Superior Bass horns.

This is a zoomed in shot from my compressor install a few weeks ago. The wire leads to the horns through the two frame rails. You can grab whatever wires you need through that harness. I had to relocate the horns to make my install work. In this picture, the wires go through the frame rails and go rearward to the horns. But the factory location is the bolt you see just to the left. So the wires on your truck go through the same frame rail location and then turn forward. But they should be in the same place in the engine bay. I didn’t pay any attention to where the wire comes from or what colors they are, but this should give you a place to start.

Thanks! Looks like I will have to pull the battery out to see them. With the horns where they are it is louder in the cab than outside!!

You shouldn’t have to, try and follow the wires from where they are in my pic. You might have open access to them.

Pulling the battery won't help, the wiring is back by the hood hinges. You only have to pull the top of the wheel well liner down to get to the horn plug.

Putting the horns behind the front fender.
I have to admit that's the dumbest place possible, no easy access and loud in the cab.
I'm going to relocate mine to behind the front bumper where it should actually be at, easy access and a lot louder outside.

Thanks for the help everyone. I pulled the inner fender. It was the only way to get to the wiring so I could splice into it. I used that as the 12v to the relay coil. The horn is a Hornblasters Musket. Nowhere near train horn volume but I like it. Found a good spot to mount it. It points straight down at the ground with nothing blocking it. Sounds great!

I did learn one valuable piece of information. If there is an open in the horn wiring (when I unplugged the connector from the horn) the hazard flashers go n and can't be turned off with the switch on the dash. Strange. I wonder how many other hidden system warning indicators our trucks have.

That's strange about the hazzard lights with the horn being disconnected. I don't remember that happening with mine when I added my Stebel air horn. I now I unplugged it to get the room to tap the wiring.
