Your truck will tow that weight without a problem. Your tongue weight will likely be higher than advertised, like in Class 4/5 hitch territory. Might want to check what you have.

Well I don’t know the weight of the trailer alone I’m looking to purchase it and on the tongue of trailer it says GTW 5000lb it’s on a 2” ball also on tongue of trailer it says tongue weight of 750# I know not knowing the dry weight of trailers the issue here I’m assuming the GTW 5000 lbs on the tongue of trailer means it cannot exceed 5000lbs when fully loaded correct me if I’m wrong on that also I believe I have 3.21. Gears im worried if the trailers only rated for 5000lbs if I stack 2 1000lb-1200lb horses in it that would mean trailer dry weight would have to be less than 2500lbs

Yep. Fully loaded must be under 5001lbs. Tongue weight will likely be over 750 but I'm not familiar with horse trailers so can't say for sure. But either way, at 5000lbs even with 3.21's you shouldn't have any issues at all

The owner was trying to tell me the trailer weighed 5000lbs, since the tag said gross trailer weight 5000lb

Gross Trailer Weight is the overall weight of the trailer as it is loaded. You already know the dry weight will be less so, I don't think you would have to worry too much about loading two horses in it, not really an issue that I can see.

Year, make and model of the trailer you can look up on a search and get the specs for it.
