Wanted to buy a DOD24M....sent an email to two different suppliers in the States (they are well known on this forum) asking what shipping would be to my address in Canada. No response.
So I keep looking around and I find an outfit called Hottexhaust. Their head office is in Woodbridge, Ontario and they have locations in the States as well. Their website says free shipping in Canada or the U.S. So I look a little deeper and it says two day delivery by Purolator to me in Ontario.
I choose the DOD24 on their site, I use their coupon code, and proceed to checkout...my total is $267.45 tax in, free shipping...but it is in U.S. dollars. So I don't continue processing the order and use their "contact us by email" link to tell them that when I go to pay for the item it wants U.S. dollars and ask why if I am buying it in Ontario, do I have to pay in U.S. Funds?
I actually get a phone call pretty promptly (must admit, I was impressed) and a fellow name John Grohovaz tells me that I can pay the $267.45 in Cdn funds. He tells me that at checkout, choose money order, then he will send me a PayPal invoice for $267.45 Cdn. I do that, get my invoice, and pay it. I get a confirmation email with my order number.
I notice that on my confirmation email, it shows DOD14M as the SKU, but that it does say...24" body...in the description. I want to make sure I am getting the DOD24M so I send an email...no response. I go on their website to check the status of my order and it says..."unfufilled". So I send another email, no response. I try calling their phone number, never get a person, always goes to the answering machine, same guy.
So all last week I keep sending emails and leaving messages. Nothing, it sucks, when I was considering making a purchase he called me right back, once I made the purchase I can't get the time of day from him.
So today I file a PayPal dispute which basically just forwards my complaint to Hottexhaust, but through PayPal. Lo and behold, 21 minutes later I get an email from Hottexhaust telling me my order has been cancelled and the money refunded. It's not a personal email, more of an automated response kind of thing. Seriously? Now they respond? Why were they dodging me??
If I check the status of my order on their website it says..order cancelled and money refunded...but on PayPal nothing has showed up, so we'll see what happens...still no reponses or contact with anyone from Hottexhaust.
Never again....
