Trying to clear the engine light on this ram 3500, really need your guys help

Ive tried unhooking the battery for about 45 minutes,

Ive also disconnected both batterys and touching the cables together like I would on my ram. Tried lots of things . Really need to figure this out

OBD2 reader, they have cheap consumer ones. Was the code important?

I think autozone will even do it for free, and there are many places (most chains) that will check your codes as well.

Dude you can get them for like 20 bucks these days and they are a handy tool. It's the only way I know of and will save you every time your engine or any friend's engine throws a code. That's why all the chains run the codes for free, because it is nothing to do and eats profits right out of the dealers pockets. peace

The code might be for a muffler bearing!

What code is it throwing? If it is throwing a code for something wrong with the truck, then it is not going to go away until the problem is fixed.

It's not that hard to drive to Autozone or AAP. They will read/clear it for free. If you live in a major metro area, I'm sure you have one within 5 min of your home or work.

If your getting a code.... its important. Just get yourself a cheap reader... I did.

The code won't disappear until you either fix the issue, or clear it with a code reader. Either way, you need to know what the error is first then you can go from there.

Also, just because you clear it ( and not do anything) does not mean it will go away forever. If its a big enough issue, it will come back.

Well the engine light turned itself off after a few days.

I understand the concern about fixing what ever is the issue but it was small things like to do with the air filter box and battery. All is good, I just figured their was an easy way of clearing them like I could on my 3rd gen.
