A few months ago I bought a used 2015 Ram 1500, 5.7, 4x4. The truck currently has 39,000 miles on it. I was doing some research about Ram's factory warranties, and it seems like all the trucks are covered with a 5 year/100,000 mile powertrain warranty. My truck's transmission has been acting a little odd, and I'm planning on taking it in to get it checked out. If repairs are needed, I just want to know for certain in advance that any transmission repair will be free of charge. Can someone confirm whether or not this powertrain warranty is included with my truck?

I believe you are correct bumper to bumper is covered for 36K miles but you are out of that. The tranny is considered powertrain so you are covered for that part. I’m just not 100% sure on the 100K miles but most powertrain warranty is good til 65K so either way your good

At some point they changed from 5/100K to 5/60K on the powertrain.

You can register on the Mopar Owner Dashboard website and once registered you should be able to see your warranty coverage.

The 5 year 100000 mile drivetrain warranty begins on the first day of in service to the original owner. It does carry over to subsequent owners. Using your Vin, any dealer can tell you if you have any warranty left.

Whyd they drop it down to 60k miles?

I think because the other brands did too. Youd figure it would be a selling point if they were the only ones still at 5/100K, but Im sure the bean counters weighed saving money on EVERY truck vs selling X more because of the better warranty.

I also bet with 5/100K powertrain they would sell less MaxCare warranties.

Just run into a dealer. They’ll run the vin and tell you exactly what you have left.

When I first heard that my initial thought was they dont think their product will last that long. Youd think they could use a longer warranty as a selling point. Kia used to advertise their long warranty quite a bit as a selling point.

It is interesting that they basically act like the trans fluid is good for 100K (or even "lifetime"), then change their powertrain warranty to cover 60K of those miles. Maybe you're right, maybe they are expecting issues between 60K and 100K and instead of it being on their dime, its on yours.

Yet another good reason to never believe in "lifetime" fluid claims. I wonder what kind of pushback you would get if you told a dealer you wanted the fluid changed at 60K instead of "never".
