How do I remove this?

Before I start tugging on things.. how do I pull out the push button start trim? I'd like to paint the silver ring something else

Do I have to attack it from behind it or can I just pull hard enough?

I think you will be able to just pull it off.

But it's easier from the back, after pulling off the kick panel. Should be two screws at the bottom then the whole panel will basically pop out with some force. There are 4-6 clips holding it in.

Agree with above, everything I have done so far is almost no screws and all push in, like the headlight switch. From behind will be easiest after removing that panel. Good luck.
