How do you disarm or at least unhook the speaker from the alarm system?

Hi. I have a 2018 2500 Hemi 6.4. Just purchased it. I have an appointment in a week to have the alarm turned off because the chirps it makes when you lock and unlock the doors is way too loud. It even chirps again about 30 seconds after the initial unlock chirp! However, if there is a simple way to disarm it then I'll do that instead of paying God knows what to have the dealership do it.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

I’m not sure about the new trucks but older ones like mine, the chirps can be turned off by pressing certain buttons on fob. Check your manual.

It should be in the settings on the Uconnect screen. You can disable the chirps there.

There is a horn with lock/unlock setting in the stereo. Go into the settings menu.

Awesome! Thanks everyone!! I knew it had to be simple because when I test drove it, it didn't chirp at all. Once they took it back and cleaned it they must have turned it on. Now they are telling me only the alarm guy which comes once a week can do it.

Hmmm, after reviewing the online and hard copy manual, it says something about knowing a secret code before changes can be made to the anti-theft protection and if you do not know it, to contact the dealership. Seems like an easy way to make additional funds for the dealership. o_O:rolleyes: I haven't accessed the system in the car yet but will do so this afternoon. I'll let you know what happens.

Okay accessed Uconnect in the pickup. Didn't even see anything that lets you access the anti theft area to make changes. Saw how to turn the horn off and on but nothing about the alarm. So, it's off to the dealership in a week for a simple fix which may cost an arm, leg and a couple of toes. Should be a freebie so I'm going to have that conversation with them.

You should be able to set the horn to sound or not on lock unless I completely misunderstanding exactly what it is that you're trying to accomplish. Chirp with lock has nothing to do with the alarm. The alarm sounds only after you locked the car and someone opens the door without unlocking the truck first.

Edit: Do you have an aftermarket alarm? There is no chirp on unlock and no chirps 30 seconds after on the factory system. The only chirp is the horn sounding when locking but that setting can be changed via UConnect.

Thanks! No, the alarm came with the pickup. Once I picked it up I noticed the loud chirp (it chirps and honks upon locking or unlocking). Took it back to the dealership to get that nonsense turned off and the dealership told me that's part of the alarm system and I had to wait until the alarm guy shows up. I'm thinking that has something to do with the "secret code" in the manual.

It must be a new thing for the 2018 year/model because I was at the grocery store, saw a guy with the same year/model pickup and asked him if his pickup was doing the same thing. He said, Hell yeah and it's aggravating as hell!

I wholeheartedly agreed with him.
