Now I'm at over 157,000 miles and still trouble free.

Good to hear. I am hoping for 250k miles. Maybe more. Why not? Change fluids and filters on time and only drive like an ******* once/ twice a month. I should be good I hope.

We have one of the original Hemis as a shop truck (reg cab, long bed)
The truck has not seen an easy life and is creeping up on 290,000 miles...It finally needed a trans last year.....

I bought a 2004 2500 4x4 with the Hemi in February. It has 208,000 miles on it. It runs great and doesn't seem to be burning any oil. Not sure of the service history, but indications are that it was well taken care of. Hoping to get a few years out of it.

My 09 Hemi RAM 4x4 has just hit 95,000 this week! had her since brand new in January of 2009. Only issue is... going in this week for new PCM and replaced Trans solenoid pack.

so total of $1,600 in repairs out of 7 years isn't too bad.

Going to be lifting her with a RCX 6" lift and some Bilsteins soon. She has a Rancho Quicklift level kit currently and 20" Fuel Maverick Rims and 35x12.5x20 Toyo Open Country AT II's as of now.

nice. what maintenance do you do normally? do you have the 8 speed transmission?

I have changed the oil regular and other basic maintenance. It had 124k roughly on it when I got it. Not sure of maintenance before then.

I have the 5 speed in mine being a 2010.

Mine went over 100k a couple weeks ago. Just did plugs again because the idle was getting a little rough. Still wasn't throwing misfire codes but definitely needed it done. I drained the trans pan a couple weeks ago, changed the filter and cleaned the magnet. Magnet was a little fuzzy. Didn't look excessive and I wasn't surprised with 100k on it.

How often should the trans pan be dropped and fluid changed?

If a six speed, then once every 120K miles or every 60K if "severe service" per maintenance schedule in the owners manual. Eight speeds are "fill for life" AFAIK.

That being said and given the propensity of higher than average transmission failures in the past on RAM's, I halve those recommendations as a general practice.

Something like that. I didn't put the first 92k on this truck so I just went ahead and did it. That and the pan gasket was leaking some lol

One month old and 1,200 miles. No problems with the engine, but it needed a multifunction switch replaced a few days after I picked it up. Defective part from factory covered under warranty.

Just traded my 2010 in for a 2014 mega cab Cummins. My 2010 Hemi had 150k on it an absolutely no issues.

Pretty sure you're just looking at the durability of the 4th gen trucks, but for what it's worth, my '03 HEMI has 225,000 miles on it and still running strong! Never had the transmission or engine rebuilt or any major repairs like that. Still get 14 mpg city and about 16 mpg highway. Doesn't even consume a bit of oil! I'd imagine that the 3rd gens and 4th gens share some similarities in the way they where built so i bet you'd see the same kind of durability.
