Searched my VIN on Mopar.

5.7L V8 HEMI MDS VVT ENGINE

8-SPD AUTO 8HP70 TRANS (BUY-US)

Someone also doing a whipple build said long block was most definitely preferred. So I been trying to figure if my '15 Sport has or not.
I'm away at work and can't check the stamps on the motor - if they'd tell me anything

Also, tonight I just heard back from Fischer Motorsports in Texas and will be calling tomorrow to get info before ordering up the Whipple kit. I have a race shop in Kelowna on board and waiting for a response and then we're all in.and then going for it

Fischers website have a few options, PCM unlocking, providing a tune with it, and billet/polished/colored finish of the SC.

Anything that could be useful to know before ordering this big bad?

A short block, at least as I know it, is the basic engine like the block and the pistons, whereas a long block includes additional parts like the camshaft and valve covers.

Have you thought about a 6.4 instead. Then you could sell your original 5.7 and recoup some of your investment.
If you pound it in the back country where it's a long way to have somebody qualified to fix it,you're crazy to boost it,you're better off adopting the KISS principle "Keep it simple stupid",and that would be go bigger on the engine, and leave the blower for the city folks

Short block = Block, crank. rods, pistons
Long block = Short block plus: cam, timing gears / chain, heads, pushrods, lifters, rockers. (some include tin like oil pan and timing cover and some come complete w/ water pump, oil pump and such)

I read it as if he didn't know if he had a short or a long block in his '15 Sport. ????? Hence the explanation of what the terms refer to.

Amazing you were able to distinguish that fact from the OP's one an only post on this thread.

Thanx

The only engine I've ever run across that had different block lengths was the GM 3800.
