Has anyone ordered a custom truck with the dealer or know how long it takes to receive the truck?

Hey Guys. Does anyone have any experience with ordering the exact truck you want from the dealer?

Having a hard time getting what I want and a local dealer is giving me a pretty good price. If I custom order with them they are going to knock about 10k off the Window Sticker price.

In the end it will get me a 65k Limited for about 55k then toss in tax and fees which I am ok with since the truck will be what I want.

The dealer says it should be 6-8 weeks but it can be as quick as 4 weeks. Does this sound about right if anyone else have done this before? Going to try to place the order this weekend I think.

I ordered my Limited mid March I believe, I was told that the Limiteds are taking a little longer than some of the others as they have to go to a vendor for electronic upfit after being built.

Mine got built last week, then got sent to the vendor on Saturday. Hoping I’ll have it early May.

Sergio just griped about their production issues with the new Ram, so I would expect a bit of a wait. Production is only about 60% of what they wanted it to be at this time.

I’m in KZP status.. whatever that means.

I think mine took 7 weeks but mine has powder coated bumpers and spray in bed liner which the truck has to be sent out to get done so that adds to the delivery time

I have been factory ordering my Dodge trucks since 03. Like you, I want to build my truck the way I want it. You are right. Because it is an in and out transaction for the dealer, cost is always lower. My experience has been 15-20% off MRSP. My 2018 2500 6.4 took 7 weeks from order date to delivery date. HOWEVER, some options like the special paint can add 2-4 weeks to build. Dodge waits until they have 10 orders for low volume options before they make a run.

I did not know that they waited for low volume items before making a build run. Thanks for the solid info!

I refused delivery of the truck I ordered in Jan (because of the 360 camera/tow mirror issue) so I will give you an exact # of days when I get it.

Back in 2015, I ordered my 2016 Ram Sport 4X4 rcsb on the 1st of November in 2015 and I got it 7 weeks later in December, 2015.
So, I'd say between 6-8 weeks.
