I want to lubricate the winch for the spare tire cable assembly. But I'm looking to some advice on how to best grease the winch and cable without making a huge mess. It's not just the mess, but more about how to get the grease in the right spot. I'm sure it's way easier on a lift, but for now I only have a floor jack and jack stands.
My OE 1/2" jack extensions have some rounding after one spare tire lowering and raising. I plan on getting a dedicated 1/2" extension for working the winch. Can someone tell me how large an outer diameter on the extension will still fit inside the "funnel" that guides extensions onto the square winch drive ? I plan to go cheap on the extension(s), and store with the jack. Just wondering if cheaper, thicker walled extensions will fit.
