I have a 2012 5.7 4WD and I had my transmission rebuilt. For some reason, the data plate is now gone off of my transmission. Does anyone know how to identify what transmission your ram has without the sticker? Thanks.

What transmission does a 2012 Ram 1500 have?

The 2012 Ram 1500 half-ton sees the previously offered 545RFE five-speed automatic gearbox recalibrated and upgraded to take full advantage of the split 2nd gear, so all six speeds are available to the driver in a newly available “Electronic Range Select” mode. The 545RFE transmission was unique.

Six-speed automatic transmission
  • For 2012, the Ram gets a new six-speed automatic transmission and as a result, a fuel economy increase.
66RFE transmission
The 545RFE was the transmission until the 2011 model year

No, the 66RFE was used in HD models.

2012 brought the 65RFE to 1500's which was mechanically identical to the 45 and 545RFE dating back to around 1999. The only new thing the 65 did was let you select all 6 forward gear ratios in order whereas the 545 would only use 5 and a "2 prime".

Posting some pictures of the transmission might help.

We're both right
OP doesn't specify if he has a 1500 or a 2500/3500

65RFE and 66RFE

For the 2012 model year, the 545RFE was recalibrated and introduced as the 65RFE in 1500 Ram models. With the exception of an improved torque converter, it is physically the same as its predecessor. The key difference in the 65RFE is the ability to use all six forward gears in sequence when using Electronic Range Select mode. In normal drive mode, however, the 65RFE uses the shift pattern of the 545RFE; thus never using 2nd and 3rd gears in succession. 2500 and 3500 models with gas engines received the 66RFE, a hybrid of 68RFE internals (including the gearset) packaged in a 545RFE case.
