When the mirrors are down, they take some getting used to. They don't bother now, not nearly as much as seeing these dudes that never tow anything yet have their "great cornholio" mirrors flipped up. Your tires aren't wider than the mirrors.

Why on earth would someone else's mirrors bother you? You argue with your buddies over their jeans and shoes too? Christ.

I will give them **** if they are wearing shorts and flip flops when it's below zero and snow on the ground. Or snow boots and ski pants in the summer. Kinda like tow mirrors when unhooked.

I liked the previous versions of the tow mirrors (circa 2002) much much better

You realize that flipped up or down the arms are the same length right?

Looks are determined by the eye of the beholder.

Is mine jacked up with big tires and bull bar and lights and tow mirrors flipped out with no trailer?

Nope. But it fits in the garage, doesn't howl down the highway, doesn't blind oncoming traffic with level, and has the mirrors flipped in as soon as the 36' trailer is unhooked.

But thanks for recognizing my superstar status.

I tow a 27' Airstream travel trailer.

I ordered my truck specifically with the tow mirrors. I find that the lower (aspherical) mirrors very useful when towing to provide a wide view. I adjust the upper mirrors to cover my blind spot on both sides.

When not towing, the mirrors are down, and I hardly use the aspherical mirrors, I find that they are hard to see. I mostly use the upper mirrors, and again, adjust them to cover blind spot.

I've always used this approach to adjust the mirrors:

The arms or overall, because overall that is factually incorrect. According to my tape, each mirror is ~3.5" wider flipped out.

Correct.

The axis of rotation is about the lower outside corner. So the mirrors pivot outward a little. Since the maximum trailer width is 8'6", the design of the mirror is such as to span that width when folded.

Frankly I like them. No motor to fail, just flip up or flip down.

I re-adjusted the fish eye mirrors today before the commute and it was a little better. But it was raining this AM and PM so I was driving in a relax mode because I had left early for work and didn’t need to “make time. These trucks are awesome in relax mode. yes.

It’s when I have to slice-n-dice in heavy traffic - that brings out competition mode, that I feel truly hindered by the very poor visibility. I’m not going to increase the odds of getting hit or crushing some other car in the bad weather… so I just chill and go back to relax mode.

Still, on my 11 and 13 both with standard mirrors, I felt very comfortable with my vision around the car during all mood modes.

i had tow mirrors on my '07 and pulled a 14x7 enclosed trailer. the truck came with standard mirrors and i had a hard time seeing around it with them. the tow mirrors fixed that. now i pull a Sea Ray Sundancer 250 with my 2013 and stock mirrors. surprisingly i can see perfectly fine around the 8'6" beam with the stock mirrors. that being said, if anyone wants rid of their tow mirrors i will gladly trade for my stock 2013 express heated power mirrors

Not only do I think it's the gayest thing ever to care how someone's mirrors are, but are any of you who think you're funny running a lifted truck? If you're not then go drive one and tell me how great your vision is behind you with standard mirrors.

I use my convex mirrors for blind spot mirrors and they work awesome. They worked the same way for my 1500 too (to show height doesn't effect it). I set the big mirrors how they would normally be set (so I can just barely see the side of the truck) and set the convex mirrors where my blind spots are and I literally have no blind spots anymore.

Well, having owed my Ram for about 2 years still can't say much good about the tow mirrors in the non tow position. I think what the problem may be, at least for me, I continually scan both sides very frequently but sometimes the view to the outboard side, parallel to the convex, blends with the actual background making it hard on a quick glance to differentiate and also, as with most other convex mirrors, the width of the view is about only a third as much. As for towing, then, the convex is at the bottom and the full width is available. At least that's how I can best explain it. I wish there was an aftermarket mirror available. As we will be towing frequently next year, guess with being in the tow position, things will be ok.

I never had a problem, and some of the mirrors I had back then were a lot smaller than the 'standard mirrors' these days

and I don't think he said he cared....he just said it looked dumb

kinda like I don't care if your pants are dropping off yer butt as long as I don't see more than your drawers, but you still look dumb

Honestly it's the highschool attitude you are showing here complaining constantly that people associate with the mirrors flipped up.

Super swampers on a lifted truck with monster wheels and a monster sticker somewhere on the truck. Flat billed hat and skater boys shoes.... willing to bet some if not all of that matched you... which is what is associated with the "mirrors up"

while i agree with you that it's your truck, do with it as you please, there are stereotypes for peoples actions in today's age... just a way of life...

even worse i'm willing to bet you're running the tow mirrors on a half ton lifted 5.7 hemi... just a guess...

Well that's a **** poor attempt to be funny. Since we're painting pictures here I'll help you. I'm wearing old beat up cowboy boots, wranglers, an international harvester shirt, and a rural king beanie. I'm also having some homemade v8 from the garden mixed with Pabst. It's my fil's birthday and I plan on getting drunk today. And it's a lifted cummins.

Come on now, until last month what did you rock? Hint, it wasn't 2500 or cummins and you added the the tow mirrors to it.

Speaking of painting pictures, you painted the ones they depicted with bad attitude. Moral of story, don't be a bigot and don't be a ****.

PS: you have a nice looking truck. The black out 1500 was too. But saying you need tow mirrors out because you are lifted on 37 is false. You prefer it, not need it.
