Hello, I'm new here. I came for help. I have probably posted in the wrong area. I personally do not own a dodge, but I do own a 1986 Jeep Comanche, we are somewhat related. I also somewhat own, with the work I have put into it, my friends 03 ram.

2003 Ram, 5.7L hemi, automatic, 2 wheel drive. Transmission problems

Symptoms, when he drives his truck, it shifts from first to second and then there is no third or higher. The dash trouble code says trans temp.
Is there a youtube video or a sensor to replace or....

Oh and I came to you all in desperation, dodge talk, :flipthebird: doesn't talk or offer advice. 40 views and not 1 hello or your screwed reply.

Thank you in advance.

I don't how much help I'll be, but I had mine rebuilt back in June. I had P,R,1,2 - I put in in the shop and when they pulled it apart my clutches were GONE, METAL TO METAL. My TC wasn't passing a bench test either so...... clutches, bearings, seals, electronics and fluid and it's all good.

Have you checked the fluid level at cold? It could be plugged up valve body, is it trying to go above said gears or just up to it?

Trans temp? I'd be looking at a new trans.

I'd say get out of here, this isn't your area, lol, but it was posted in the 2nd Gen area. I'm just kidding of course, but I guess if I want you to join in from now on I'll post my threads in the 2nd Gen area.

Check the transmission fluid level and if it hasn't had the fluid changed in a while, I suggest doing that first before tearing into it.

If the situation gets no better then from your description your transmission control module and temp sensor are reporting a high temperature but that should not keep it from shifting into third or higher.

A plugged valve body will not respond to a simple fluid change so if the transmission won't shift higher than second after the fluid change, it's time to pull it and go through it.

If there is a code (or codes) present now, get them read and post them up. That info will help narrow down the possibilities.
