We've all heard this saying, and I'd say majority of us have said this. I'm curious to see how many of you feel this way with the purchase of your Ram.

I'm usually pretty good about researching products when I'm going to make a purchase, but when it comes to purchasing a new vehicle the only research I tend to do is finding the best price. I knew what I wanted (4x4, HEMI, 4 dr), and I knew I had plans for the truck (lift and larger tires), but I didn't do any research on the specs of the truck. For me, I wish I knew the axles in the 2013 weren't upgradable with respect to gears. I also didn't know aftermarket products wouldn't fit 2013s because of the changes Ram made to the same generation Ram. So if I knew then what I know now, I would have gone with a 2010 instead of a 2013.

What do you wish you knew then that you know now about your truck?

I knew I was going to lift mine so I went with 3.92s and a 2wd to offset the cost of buying a stock 4x4. Came out even in the end. I think my truck looks better than a stock 4x4, dont you agree? haha

If I had to pick one thing, it would be that I wish I wouldve got a center console with floor shifter

I have a need for 4x4 though. And I've never quite understood the purpose of spending money on lift and tires if it's not going off-road. But everyone has their wants, and as long as they have what they want than that's awesome. I the reason I went with 3.55s is because I had plans to put 4.56s in. But I wasn't aware of the axles being unable to be upgraded.

I didn't have a need for the truck at all when I got it. I got a really good deal on getting out of a previous bad vehicle and took the opportunity to get the Rammy. I was at first thinking about replacing the bum van with a new one, but then realized that I could afford a shiny, brand new, 4x4 Hemi Bighorn and we didn't have the obvious need for the minivan like we once did, so I went for it. It has a few things I don't really need but it isn't missing anything I do need, except the room the van had. But it was a great upgrade to me, no regrets. I'm totally smitten, I admit it. :love62:

I wasn't expecting to get a new truck when I did, the dealer offered a deal too good to pass on. So I hadn't done any research. I upgraded from an '08 RC 4x2 w/4.7 SLT to a '12 QC 4x4 w/5.7 Outdoorsman. If I had done my research, I would have waited for an Outdoorsman with the Mossy Oak package. Other than that, I did get everything I wanted minus silver paint. Im happy with the truck though.

same reason why 4wd people do it...ground clearance and bigger tires :)

I'm kind of conflicted on this. In a way, I wish I would have gone with the 2500 instead of a 1500, because we might purchase a camper in the near future. But, they didn't start making the 6.4L HEMI in the 2500 until '14 and that's the engine I'd want. Then, there's the fact that the 8 speed isn't available in the 2500. The 8 speed in the 1500 is a thing of beauty. I'm sure the transmission in the 2500 is excellent, but it'd feel different after driving the TF-8 for a year. Lastly, they aren't producing the 2014's in Copperhead Pearl (the color of my '13 Big Horn). So, in a way the decision was already made for me.

I wish I new about the rear gearing and the 2014 coming out with a 6'4" bed for the crew cab.

And would have gotten Parkview back up camera and sensors. Seems they come as a package deal for the 2014 now.

There is a lot of things I wish I knew, most are not truck related.

I swapped my pickup bed for a flatbed and added LED lighting. I wish I would have added the VSIM or the auxiliary upfitter switches. Either way it would have allowed me to install the LEDs without resistors or incandescent bulbs and not have messages on the EVIC (or fast flash)

4.10 gears over 3.73,. The change is highway RPMs are minimal (~9%) the change in the reverse and first would be pretty significant. I haven't needed/ wanted more power with the 6.4, but I can't help to think it would have been better for the transmission (I frequently run heavy and slow)

I wish I had known the 66RFE or whatever trans in my 2500 5.7 Hemi was still a typical Dodge/Ram automatic - aka a piece of junk.

I wish I would have known how much fun owning and modding my Ram was going to be, I would have bought one a long time ago.

I agree. It is awesome. I haven't modded, but test drove 2009, 2010 and finally bought in 2013

I wish I had done more research. I had a major brake failure in February on van, snow covered frigid cold driveway, so ran to dealer.
I would have gone with a more equipped big horn or 2500 had I known. 2500 would have been simply due to different frame and solid axle. Also would have wanted the LSD on my 1500.
Thinking I may trade in next year but probably lost so much driving off lot it won't be cost effective.
